1. Can you afford them - an M82 alone will cost you upwards of $10,000.
2. Have you shopped around, or are you making these decisions on seeing the weapons in-game and going "wow! I think it'd look sweet if I had them in my gun cabinet!"
3. WTF do you need a .50BMG for? The really aggressive deer? The very pissed off rabbits? By the time you locate a decent rement piece of the object you just obliterated, you'd die from exhaustion just carting the bloody thing around.
4. Be smart about purchasing a firearm. Go to some gun clubs, see how they work, make some friends, test fire some. Don't just make a rash decision and go and buy an M82 just because it's big, ugly and looks cool.

ok thats freaking funny and i like big things so a .50 cal bmg is just fine for me i just have to cough up 7 grand plus the money for ammo and my uncle has a .50 cal machine gun so i will get to test the .50 cal before i get it and i think i would shoot chipmunks with the rifle it is better than trying to afford a 30 mm vuclan off the a10 warthog:D :D :D

Can't argue with that logic....
If you really want an 1337 sniper rifle, you'd be a million times better off buying a match grade bolt action in some nature of .30/.300/7.62/.30-06 etc.
Of course, after your testicles finally drop, you might be too old to keep wanting firearms that you'll have absolutely no use, nor be able to afford....maybe that's just me though.

it depends what you mean better, better as in performence or better as in cheap and easy to contain

Yeah, it's a good idea to never buy a gun based on the fact you used in a video game. Especially since most of the will cost you an arm and a fucking leg for them. I don't know if we could really take you seriously, since you're practically basing this off of FA.
If you really want an uber-sweet sexy rifle. Buy the M25 White Feather.

I saw a ssg 3000 at the Kittery Trading Post, the thing cost over $4000 and weighed at least 15 pounds. It felt nice to hold, but I wouldn't rush out to buy one.
If you want a big gun without spending a ton of money, get the Reminton 700 chambered in .300 ultra mag.

This poll needs an "NIAD" option.

When I first saw it, I'm like "WTF..? either this guys is made of fucking money or he's a 14 year old who plays way too many video games."
Being big is not always the smartest choice. If you're going to own a firearm, then you obviously know that you should select a firearm for hunting, you would know that you would select one that doesn't fucking annihilate whatever you're shooting - lest there's nothing to take home.
If you're going to select a firearm for personal/property defense, then you would know that the law says that you may use force that is REASONABLE and PROPORTIONATE. If you have a trespasser and shoot him with a .50, I don't think the law will see that as reasonable force to use against that person who 'accidently wandered onto your premises'.
We don't care if your great aunt owns a .50 MG. That does not quantify experience for an M82-A1 - nor does it for any precision rifle.
Sig Sauer SSG3000s are an expensive firearm as well - roughly half the price of an M82-A1. Why purchase such a firearm when you can purchase rifles manufactured in your own country which are just as good, if not better?
If you're serious about buying a firearm, I suggest you join a rifle club and begin basic and then work your way up the calibres. Don't have the fixation of "bigger is better", because only fools and the ignorant think that.

QFE, my friend's 10/22 is one of the most fuin rifles I have shot yet, but it is by no means a big gun. I am even looking into those rifles that fire the .17 Hornady rounds.

Best advice in this entire thread. Shoot some friends rifles first, and visit the gun club. try to firethe weapon you want before you buy it. Alot of places have rentals that are very reasonable. Spend 30 bucks, rent the firearms, pop a few rounds through it, BEFORE you spend 1500 and decide you dont like it. Alot of people dont like the kick of even a 300 winchester magnum, let alone the deafening thunder and feeling of getting hit by a frieght train that the .50 BMG makes.

I have more fun with the .22 Glenfield Model 60 I bought for my girlfriend than she does... she enjoys my Mosin-Nagants the most.

This thread reminds me of this kid who started citing his knowledge of guns. He then started to name off guns from Resident Evil.
"I think they even make double-barreled shotguns."
"Python: powerful, but slow reload."
