Weapons: So I went shooting tonight

A 12 gauge Shotgun and an Egyptian AK47. I was suprised at how little recoil the AK47 had. The games always make it seem like it has massive recoil and it is uncontrollable, but I fired a 30 round magazine in about 4 or 5 seconds, and it wasn't all that bad. The shotgun didn't even have as much kick as I thought it would (yes this is my first time firing one), and it looked pretty cool firing it when it is semi-dark, and it looks like a cannon going off. Think I might go again on Friday.

Never fired anything in 7.62x39, but the same for the shotgun, I thought it would hit me like a brick, until I fired one.

Yeah, I always thought a shotgun would literally blow you on your ass if you didn't hold it right, but when I fired it, there wasn't even close to that much recoil. The 7.62x39 was ncie though. I actually think I might turn to the dark side and get an ak47 sometime soon, I really liked it, even though the foward grip got some hot after 80 rounds, even holding the wood, I burned my finger and smoke was pouring off the sides of the barrel and everything.

I was never really concerned about 12 guage recoil... I had burned up plenty of 3" mags in my 20 guage, which hit harder in my BPS than the 2 3/4 loads Ive ran through 12 guages. An SST 870 is really nice... its around 20 guage 2 3/4 loads for percieved recoil (at least I thought so)

Running turkey magnums through single barrel shotguns will cure your desires for recoil. A coworker borrowed our ranch H&R 12 guage for turkey season... once. He returned with a bruise that covered his shoulder and down his arm. Ive taken to strays with our 20 guage H&R and mag loads... that was loud and a little painful. Not real bad, just enough to put a shit eatin grin on your face.


I really didn't expect AK's to kick... hell after I opened a box of Wolf I was like WTS, damn its short...

There's worse.....we spent a full day in the police academy qualifying with shotguns, using a mix of 00 and slugs. As if that weren't enough, that's when I decided to see how my Franchi LAW-12 patterned.....five rounds of slug through that thing was all I could take.
