I'm looking for something that lets you control an individual ship in a fleet action from around the WW1 era or a little before.

I've been reading a book on the battle of Tsushima, and I think I've fallen in love with those old battleships.

No luck on google yet, so I thought to try here too.

Jane's Fleet Command is a bit aged now, and its set in modern times, but I really enjoyed playing it back in the day.

Not really what you're looking for, but Silent Hunter III is good for a submarine sim. U-Boats in WW2.

Nah man, that game ruled. I loved making my own sims up. Game could be hard though on the big games, so much micromanagement, and lots of waiting. Nothing worse then that sinking feeling you get when your picket ships run out of SAMs. Poof.

What do you do in Naval Combat Sims? It takes like 100 people to operate a ship. :(

Fleet command is great. The newest harpoon sucked, and though I've never been a fan of the series, for naval command sims, it's pretty much harpoon and fleet command.

Janes fleet command is pretty much the shit though. I played quite a few games of it for a class up in annapolis while I was there.

Never tried it, but I played the hell out of Harpoon II depsite my feeling that it really should have been named something like Naval Air Power.

Well harpoon 2 is one of the great classics. On that same note, fleet command should have been named "tomahawk and SAM command" because that's pretty much what was involved.

My only problem in the game was that the Russians had a MAJOR advantage within the game physics due to the AS-4 Kitchen missiles being MUCH faster then the Tomahawk/Harpoon cruise missiles. The game didn't take into account the stealthier characteristics of the 'hawk/'poon, and even a monster salvo would get shot out of the sky. The AS-4s meanwhile would almost always make it through on a salvo.

Oh, Silent Hunter III is practically boner-inducing with the amount of realism you can have. The minute I laid eyes on the fully charted map of the Atlantic Ocean, I knew I was in for a good time.

Somewhere, I found a guy who did an entire patrol in that game in real time, and kept a log of it. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Found it. It's a few posts down before he really gets started with the log.
