So I've been looking for a police push bumper for my car, for several months. The oldest ones I've found fit on the '92 model. Mine's a '90, and the bumper is severely different than that of a '92 Crown Victoria. I have e-mailed a used police car/parts dealer up in Massachusetts, but they never answered me back. I also look on Ebay regularly. I have tried the websites of Code-3 and Go Rhino. I have not found a single push bumper that specifically states it can fit mine.
So here are my questions:
Does anyone possibly know a place I can try to find a police push bumper at, that would fit a 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria?
Does anyone know how the push bumper attaches to my car? I can get photos of the front underbody, if needed.
What sorts of modifications will I need, to attach it?
I'm hoping someone who has had experience with law enforcement (possibly GoatChomper?) will be able to help me.
Thanks in advance for any useful help.

Pimp my ride?
Yes, except with less bling and more badassitude.
EDIT: If you were talking about the show, then hell no. I wouldn't let those assholes touch my car. They'd just paint it a fancy color and give it assloads of electronics in my trunk. I need that trunk.

expect some heavy drilling to install, a push bumper is supposed to exactly that, push, so its going to attach directly to the front of the chasse (which should be right in front of the start of the motor and right after the radiator)

Yeah, I figured it has to attach directly to the frame, but I can't find any way it'd attach. Might it attach to the big strip of steel that the bumper is bolted onto? It looks as if that's where the frame comes to a head, but I couldn't get a good view from the angle I was looking at it.

I'd call around junk yards. Might even see if you can find a department that still uses them, as silly as that sounds. The small po-dunk department in a town little south of me still has one of old style vics.

Maybe try calling Rino customer service and see if they have any older stock not normally listed?
that or you might try checking out your local vo-tech, maybe you could work out a deal with the welding class/autobody instructor to make a custom push bumper, never know till you try.

I'll contact them tonight.

I was thinking of that. I used to go to a tech school that had an auto class. Customers could bring in their car and the students would work on it to get good practice. Maybe I'll call them up or something.

Have you made sure the frame of your particular car is designed to take a push-bar? Most squad cars are the interceptor model, and one of the major differences is frame construction...
I'd do a lot of research on your frame to ensure that:
1- You aren't jeopardizing the integrity of the frame by drilling holes in it (read: holes don't make it stronger)
2- If it can handle the above, can it handle the additional weight of a push-bar, and still be able to push ... stuff without hurting the frame.
3- And finally, legality issues. Most places it shouldn't be a problem because it's essentially the same thing as a brush guard... But some localities have pretty backwards laws about modifying your car.
I don't want to be a naysayer, but you'd probably be better to find an old squadcar at a police auction.

As far as I know, the police model of my car has the exact same frame as mine. The biggest difference is the engine.

Not sure about this.

Surely you know something about Crown Victorias. It's a big, solid old boat. I'm sure it can handle thirty to sixty pounds in the front.

Well, I see brush guards all over the place in this town, so it shouldn't cause a problem.

I had a chance of buying one with a police package. Mine's a gas guzzler, but the P-71 is much, much worse. This is a daily driver, so I have to think about that sort of thing.

Nope, can't help.....I just rode with LEOs I employed a few times, something this esoteric about police vehicles (heck I can't tell makes and models apart) is beyond me.

Get me some pics of a police bumper, some measurements, and a fat check, and low expectations for quality...
I'll fab you one up.
