View Full Version : Military: Combat Air Controllers

What's the typical time these guys spend in training? I'm assuming it's more than the average Airman seeing as they're considered Special Forces, and because they need combat training in addition to aircraft and runway management, but I haven't been able to find any definite answers.

Only part I can help you on is the air traffic control.

IIRC school was 4 months, they go through much quicker though...I'm thinking maybe in 25% of the normal time.

Your best bet would be try to network and find one who is active that could answer your question. Hell, try to call their home base and speak to someone in the command chain, never hurt to try.

I heard air traffic controllers had the highest or second highest suicide rate in the AF... its a very stressfull job.

Crew cheif was supposed to be up there too.

No idea, but they're even respected amongst army infantry units.
