On a scale of one to ten, how much of FA's demise has to do with its community of players?
I'll go with 8.
P.S.: Does anyone know a good FA server that is still around or another game to move on to?

The only way a game can die is if there is no one to play it. The people that play it are called the community. Since not many of the community are playing it, it is 100% the fault of the community for the downfall of FA.
You are stupid.

I am aware of what a community is, I was referring to personalities not activity. Nice baseless flame:p
(Should've made that clearer but I don't think that makes me stupid)

But what attrackts the community? And what was the reason why they left? A community will stay as long as their is an interest in a game. The community is rarely the first thing to fall apart..
The reason why FA died imo, was that it was too hard for newbies, and too slow for oldies..
Noirceur, jolt still have a few servers running, some US servers are too. But you will probably have to gather people yourself, or wait on the server for someone to join which usually doesnt take very long. #needtokill or #faclan on gamesurge, and you might find a few euros that wants to play a map or two..

Is it really too hard to newbies? I have hated CS for the longest time because if you suck you end up sitting around for more than half the time, FA you may not get a good score but at least you can shoot at people for 75% of the time you are playing.

The snap/sgoss/jonjon stunt certainly didn't help anything. I'd say it's hard if not impossible to judge whether ingame players and attitudes do anything to help or hinder the game - too many people are affected in different ways, and many keep playing because they like the game, and many stop playing because they don't. Likewise, many stay for the people, and many are put off by shitty people. Tacking a simple positive or negative attribute to the community as a whole is really rather clumsy and inaccurate.

Yes, you can shoot at people without the damn waiting like in CS, but to what point? I'd assume most new players have tried CS and got used to the weapons. Join a FA server, and spray the first g36 mag without zoom at a guy 30 feet away, nothing happens, except he jumps around like a bunny on crack and plants 2 single shots in the head. Once that happened 4 or 5 times, I would quit too if I didn't know better..

I'd go for a 9. When 2.6 was released a lot of the community did become very negative and this negativity was passed onto the FA team, which in turn de-motivated the team.
I would imagine some of the FA team probably disliked a lot of the community so why would they want to carry on coding it?
I say the community should have stuck together more and helped support the team but alas this is/was FA.

Everyone of you are self diluted if you think that the player base didn't kill the mod, once all the clans got knocked out come play off time for fal, they quit pubbbing, no clanners pubbing, equals no competition for the remaning clans in fal, which mean pubs are truly a joke.
S^D and $ac, and IA, will pratice better playing each other for skill, then playing in a pub at this point.

Both the stength and weakness of FA was the size of its player base. It was like a small town. As some wiseass once pointed out, "the smaller the church, the more likely it will splinter." The FA soap operas were inevitable. Good has also come from it. PoP is still alive and well. Our forums are as active as ever. Most of us are playing BF2 with NME. While I don't see BF2 lasting, in part, it was FA's size that helped make it so addictive. The fact that these forums are so active for a mod that hasn't been released, is a testimonial to FA. The exact same thing will happen in WAW if the player base is the same size. There will be plenty of soap, bs, etc, but on the other hand there will also be good...both come with the turf.

Yeah, I've been getting a tad bored with DoD lately... so I ran around with a machine gun just pubbing.. you should try that. Its funny how many people you can kill, the bullet spray is wider than FP's ass, but it just mow's down everything in a radius of like 15 feet in every direction and it also pisses off every decent player that runs out and tries to just hit you with one or two shots from a bolt action, you get to hear people who have won CAL championships talk crap about you and call you a n00b. So its a lotta fun.
I'm running a geforce 6800 ultra, so my FPS is great as well.

Best part of fa was everyone knows everyone unlike counter-strike, its what made the game addicting, the flame wars grow old but, flaming led to greater competition, but when the fal admins were ill chosen, league play led to a huge downfall.
I'm glad to see PoP has continuted playing together, very dedticated guys, your clan managed to stay out of most of the bullshit fa had brought to your server and forums.

I should smack you with my penis for saying. I was in +][)$+ with Andross for a short time before he learned to exploit and act like a tard and he was horrible. I'd never join a team led by him and could care less how 'great' some people said he was because he was never more than that idiot with mediocre aim and great exploits to me. Perhaps it's because I wasn't around for 2.9, but I remember when he started to get good and what the cause of it was so what he did after that is of no concern to me. Then again... who am I, right? <3 you 4 life Jeffykins.

Thats a lie. He submitted his config to me once and made the mistake of not taking off his little command at the bottom for his custom script. Where it usually says userconfig.cfg, he had another command for a custom script. After pretending to be an lns and him showing me and like 4 other people a few exploits he offered to send me a custom script that would make it easier for me to do, by pressing one button the script would simulate pressing four different keystrokes within a matter of seconds.
There are much more damaging andross scripts that I've gotten, but that little tidbit is more than enough for you to understand.

It is/was interesting though, watching all the people take sides over silly Andross and his silly exploiting configs that couldn't compensate for his aim anyway.

Wow that's so cheating.
It wasn't having a custom config in there, that made it cheating, it was the config he used that was cheating. If you read above I also explained that he had keys mapped out to exploit things like the super jump along with everytime he would move forward it would also simulate him moving right and left VERY VERY FAST, which if you know anything about the old crouch strafe along with the sprint exploit, you'd know what all of that means.

Binding should seriously just be cut*sigh*. It is sometimes nice to have something conveinent but when touching one button makes you run, strafe, jump, shoot, launch nukes, call dominoes and give lap dances.....maybe its a little too conveinent.
