Since Fuzz is really smrt and is banned here so he asked me to post this in regards to last week's dispute.
Dispute resolution: $aC vs IA
$aC claims that an improper server configuration file was used for their FAL playoff match vs IA.
Supposed evidence of this is that the server was “paused” twice during the round in which $aC was red.
No evidence is present for the round in which $aC is blue.
After testing this “pause” function myself, it is of my opinion that it in no way affected the outcome of the match, and did not prevent $aC and IA from playing on, for lack of a better colloquialism, a level playing field. The rule regarding server configuration files reads as follows:
2.21 Rules for Server Settings
FAL will provide a configuration file to be run at the start of all FAL matches. It is suggested also that clans who run their own servers upload this file to their servers for scrims as well as in case their server is needed to run a FAL match on short notice. If a match is played on a clan's server, it is their responsibility to have the latest config file ready for use on the server. If they fail to do this, the server cannot be used. If a round starts and the settings are incorrect, play must stop immediately, and the round restarted. If the round starts again with incorrect settings, the server cannot be used. When starting a match, the player speed must be set to 0 and not changed until the start of the match
Note should be taken of the sentence “FAL will provide a configuration file to be run at the start of all FAL matches.” In case in question FAL did provide a configuration file which was run in the FAL match. The file provided satisfied all requirements FAL has for providing a fair environment.
All this said, against my better judgment, FAL will request that $aC and IA replay their playoff round in which $aC is red and IA blue on the map ps_river. This will be done to allow these teams to win or lose in an environment in which neither can find fault. FAL and other league playoff matches seem to be infested with poor sportsmanship and frivolous disputes; it is our intention to provide a league in which these occurrences are minimized as much as possible. FAL will provide $aC and IA another chance to play the round in question, which hopefully this time will prove to be less contentious. The round replay will occur as close as possible to the date September 11, 2005. Good luck to both, please attempt to use only teamchat during your replay.
Thank you,
FAL|Erik
