Ok the last thread im making for today lol.
But what is your favorite thing about FA?
I like how fast pace it was, and how you could still die in 2 shots, but it takes some aim to actually do that. Bleeding and breaking legs was a cool feature.

Deathmatch style gameplay with realistic guns.
And parachuting, grenade launchers, artillery, proning, etc. Yanno, all that stuff that made the mod really cool until the FA team phased most of them out... When it came out it was unlike anything else around, and it had a good run until it tried to be more like CS and DoD.

Well....I'm not exactly liked in the FA world. But I loved FA because it took tanasity to run up on a famaser, and put a forty five in his mouth, and listen to him bitch. I loved FA because the pistols could kill just as much as the others, but not be excessive. Like how the 1911 packed more skull-snapping power than the deagle. I loved the fact that one game, could take a simple, underloved pistol, and show it the most love in the world.

It was always the uncanny ability to pick up any gun and crush people so long as you used the right tactics.

fast pace. unlike CS an DoD. well, the old DoD 1.3b version was fast pace like FA 2.5 was, but the new versions weren't as good, thats why i keep switching back and forth from FA and DoD.

The different weapons that didn't show up in a lot of other games. Ie the famas, m16a2/m203, g3, ak74, m14, g36, sterling, bizon, uzi, pkm, m60 to some extent, 93r, anaconda, 1911, m79, ssg, svd and the barret.
I liked the community when you'd find a good server where everyone didn't get pissed off if you joked around.
I liked being able to customize your config to whatever you needed at the time.
I liked having consequences for falling off high objects.
I liked merging mags and being able to load one more round into the gun if you reloaded twice.

I like about FA:
Customizable weapons selections
No waiting for respawn
Skills available - bleeding, broken legs, medic, stealth, marksmanship, etc.
Recommendations:
More of a team structure - and better communication. These are key to a great war mod, imho.
Better and more maps. Multiple paths would help make the map less linear and have more variety.
Protected spawn areas - but penetratable when reinforcements are zero or it's an "Alamo" type of map.
Models with thier vision (eyes) where they actually are in the model - this would stop the "helmetcamming".

I loved it when I quit playing FA. It was an amazing game in its hayday, but overall I was glad to get out. It was time consuming and addictive, and just when you got used to having to deal with a problem you didn't think would be fixed, or dealing with problems you found but were never fixed (if you were a tester as I was), then somebody would change something and mess up the problem even farther and add about 10 new problems along with the original one. Or even better, one time our coder fixed some of the things (bugs) we found and then compiled an older version and released it, so when it was finally released to the public, a super old super bug filled version was released and everybody was pissed at the coder and the testers for a long time.
That was neat.
So goodbye, let FA die. Viva HL2 MODS!!!

first and foremost:
jeffy. i mean like a brother. i know i joke about mansex, and i know i hardly see the guy, but i seriously feel closer (platonically, again) to jeffy than my blood-brother.
i love the forums, the crazy sigs and avatars (kudos to those who've had bouncing booby avatars & sigs..)
my all-time-best map (jeffy can attest to this): sdtc_balcome
proving a point that a couple of S^D players couldn't win without the fa-mas, once upon a time. (pm me about that one)
uzi + m79
the variety of skills, and as someone else put it, combinbing the variety of skills and fully-customizeable arsenal and custom kits to suit your playing style, or to counter an enemy's playing style. AND the prefab kits that came with the game.
the fact that despite the massive flame wars, at the end of the day everyone just said "fuck it" and played iwo and clayed the hell out of each other. <3
FAL, CAL, [HK], while they all lasted. all the douchebags who gave the game a little life (Solo, AK1200, clan [PoP], you're on my list, but who cares cuz i'm the uber douchenub anyways)
all the great times on gamesnet, until that one bastard sued them and it became gamesurge and not quite as good, but still a cool place to hang out.
sgossard34. don't care for the man's personality, but i respect him as he continues to perplex me.
the almighty OTF forums. ahh, the spam...
the M79. i loved people who whined over the mic when i spammed them in their almighty, sniper foxhole. hey, that's what it was designed for...
the huge variety of custom maps, skins, models (BHD models, m79 cow launcher, blue-palyer halo Master Chief skin, m14 ghillie model for the g3)
the good times, and the bad. getting to be co-leader of [CKD] for the short time that it lasted. looknig bak, even though it was only like 3 months, it was still a hell of a lot of fun.
the fact that no matter how frustrated I would get with FA, I would persist until i either had the worst score on the map, or an insanely high number of frags (and far fewer deaths ty), but had a lot of fun either way.
and for a guy with absolutely no personal life OTHER than FA, the fact that it's sorta helped me grow up a bit.

For everyone who is actually reading this thread, I have to tell a funny story. Myself and Socom-Delta got this idea to start a clan one time and we called it [CKD], well I wanted our clan to be not just teammates but good friends as well, so I stayed on countless hours talking to my guys and helping them out anyway I could. As it happens slowly but surely Socom (Brandon), and I became pretty trusted friends on the battlefield, he was the only person I could trust to watch my back and go where I asked and hold a point if needed, he wasn't quite as good as wookeh at holding points but in his day he was VERY good.
One day late I said, hey dude since you live in Florida and I live in Georgia we should get together sometime, like at my parents condo in the keys or up here or something. He was like yeah man cool, and we began planning it out. Well hundreds of people have said they were coming to visit and you know what that means across the internet, so I thought nothing of it and went to bed. Didn't get on the internet for like a week, I think I had some school stuff going on.
Anyway, about a week later I get a call.
Jeff: "Hello"
Brandon: "Hey man whats up?"
Jeff: "Nothing, its like 6:30 in the morning man, wtf".
Brandon: "I'm at the Greyhound station, come get me".
Jeff: "What? What greyhound station"?
Brandon: "The one in Dalton, were about to pull in in about 10 minutes".
Jeff: "We have a greyhound station? Wait, did you say Dalton"?
Brandon: "....."
So out of the blue this guy shows in my town on a greyhound bus and I'm like... uhh mom, a guy I met on the internet just like drove up here and wants to stay a week. So at 6:45 in the morning my parents were out of the bed wonderings WTF was happening. I had briefly mentioned something to them about Brandon saying he was coming.
So he came and stayed a week, I'd get up and go to work and he'd play firearms for 8 hours until I got home, and he would lock himself in the spare bedroom on the computer until I got home. IN the spare bedroom there is only ONE vent, so it got like 90 degrees in there.
I'd open the door and he'd be in like a pair of my shorts and a wife beater going... OMG dude you should have seen this one round. I'd be like what round? And he'd be like, "it was like 5 hours ago, but it was wild".
All in all, he's a great guy and one of my best friends in the entire world, and if I had to say FA brought anything, it'd be some friendships that will never die. I probably count Brandon more as my brother than I actually do my brother. Thank you FA team for making a game that although had its flaws and perks, it had the power to bring people together, to play, to talk, to become friends.

I love the fact that you could actually sneak around and be sitting right behind someone and they couldn't see you, then you would jump out and hose them down (willow was the best for this).
There was a time when Rapid and some others put together a "team Limits" from a load of us euros and 4 of us went up against a whole server of players and had our own rendition of rourkes drift (from Zulu) when we defended the room above the crashed chopper on Durandal for the entire match and didn't let anyone past. Thats something you simply can't do in any other game.
Also the M249 on iwojima when it first got added to the game, 2 MGers guarding a tunnel was just awesome firepower.

Spring break... my family owns a condo in key west right next to the Hemmingway Lighthouse. We go down every year for spring break, well usually. Also my favorite college team is FSU followed of course by UGA, but you just made me a happy man, bring a ton of those FSU hotties and we'll go down to the keys and party our asses off. Usually around spring break all the vacationers from South America come, so there will be hundreds of finely tanned brazilian and venezualan beauties. Or maybe thats during the fall break, either way, its always great because the cruise ships dock there every night. And in key west they have the sunset festival, which is everybody on the island gathers at the pier and parties, and since the sun sets every single day, well it happens every day.
Look forward to it swat.

That works for me. I actually live (originally) in palm beach gardens, so hitting up O-town won't be too hard, it's a midway drive for me. Tallahassee for school, Palm Beach for home.

That works. Or, next time you get a road trip opportunity take I-75 South to I-10 West, to Tallahassee, and come chill at the school.......so many sluts around.

My favorite was in 1.2 (or 2.1?), in one of crow's maps.
It was very damn linear, but it was awesome. Blue started outside, and the path led to a large lobby with a mezzanine that led to wide and long hallway that led to a room with stairs going down to a garage.
One of the games as blue, we'd been rushing the lobby constantly to no effect. We were just getting picked off one by one. So I thought, "Damnit, I'LL organize us."
It was a pub, but I just started screaming for everyone on blue to do what I said, and for some reason, they agreed! This was before the skill system and stamina, so I got everyone to select different loadouts and had us rush the lobby systematically (heavies in front, lights in the back).
We fucking owned them so hard, but it was actually a long firefight. I mean, the proximity of the spawns and the way we rushed meant that even though we all had a life expectancy of 5 seconds, we were all just pouring in through the doors often enough that there were probably 50 corpses on the ground before the lobby was taken.
For the next 20 minutes, we had desperate fighting for that goddamn hallway -- it would keep going back and forth between the lobby and the room at the other end in one continuous firefight, with me in command! (who wouldn't love that? especially in a pub)
My memory of the results are very muddy, but I think at one point, we broke the back of their reinforcement stream and made it all the way to their spawn near the garage, but we "over-extended" ourselves from that long rush that they were able to counter-attack and drive us all the way outside the lobby and from then on we couldn't get to the hallway again.
That's what I miss about old FA... constant, continuous action. You can still have it in 3.0, but it's all about map design, and the maps are designed for multiple routes and sneaking. That can be fun too, but it's nothing compared to the knowledge that even though you just had 10 deaths, the fight you're getting into is the same exact one that started 20 minutes ago :D.
-e-That was honest to god a textbook "push" game, even though that map was CTI.
I miss the old push maps. truly linear. I remember how frustrating it is on newer maps how long it takes to get to the next point that sometimes halfway through, a point gets capped behind you -- enemies sneak past each other or you just plain never get near each other. :(

I like the fact that you could take headshots from most of the guns. Its like the helmet actually did something.

The barret appears in almost every game for pc or console games.

i miss the fact, that up untill late in the game, i was undefeated with the SSG, moving HS for the win. and the fact that no matter where i went, people respected other people with the tag u$c :P

That must be a long time ago since I got 0 respect for wearing the tag; or should I say, no noticeable difference between when I did wear and when I didn't.

Yea, i stopped playing 2.7? i think. When things started going down hill. Back then people would be all cool to me and shit for being in u$c. Was only in it for a few months but while i was there it was amazing. To bad things cant go back to the 2.5 days, when it was fun :(.
Ive never found a game quite like FA. BF2 is fun, but isnt firearms, no game can ever take its place, even if they were to remake it into FA, it wouldnt be the same. You would need the old squad like Geusswho, Jaguar and all the other people from NDF. :-\ sad to see everything go.

Ok the last thread im making for today lol.
But what is your favorite thing about FA?
I like how fast pace it was, and how you could still die in 2 shots, but it takes some aim to actually do that. Bleeding and breaking legs was a cool feature.
Customizable weapons, gears n equipment, diversity, gaining exp oh and grenades, grenades and grenades...
