While in the process of searching for the best price on the HDDs mentioned in
this (http://forums.worldatwarmod.com/showthread.php?t=20861) thread, I came across pricegrabber.com after I searched pricewatch. At first, it sounded like pricegrabber was something of a cheap knockoff of pricewatch; after all, the names are similar. But that's not even the focus of the issue.

As I was browsing their index (http://www.pricegrabber.com/rating_getreview.php/r=597/m=12261463), I noticed Best Buy had an unusually low rating... well, okay, not that unusual. Read on.

It turns out that a number of shoppers have posted complaints about Best Buy's godawful service, helping them to earn their 1-star rating!

So I thought I'd share my story here, and invite you all to share yours.

So it was 2002, and I took the risk of purchasing a prefab, retail machine from Best Buy. I didn't have anything against Best Buy at the time, but the fact that some of their service reps had trouble responding to some of my technical questions left me a bit in doubt. However, I was still a child living at home (goddammit... nothing has changed in four years! lol), so the money being put toward a new machine was not in my charge.

Anyways, I was given an approximate date of when the machine should arrive; August 9th, I think it was. So I called on the 8th to see if maybe it arrived early. I chose what I thought was the correct option on their phone dialog, but ended up being directed toward their in-store operator. I told her I was directed to her by mistake, and that I needed a different department (I forget which dept. name it was, as if it matters).

So this continues two more times... over the span of well over an hour. Finally, on the third time I ask to speak to this girl, I ask to speak to the manager. I ended up venting my frustration (albeit, in a civilized fashion) about how I had been bounced around their phone system for quite a long time, and all I was trying to do was see if my order was in. She eventually told me it would be in tomorrow, and thank god it was because my head would have exploded if it wasn't.

It seems it's difficult to get Best Buy to do the simples of things; I strongly suggest you click that second link above to read more detailed examples of Best Buy's bullshit.

Plus they overcharge at full retail.

That geeksquad? Fucking ridiculous: $65 to install a hard drive, $120 to install a video card. WTF THE WHOLE GODDAMNED THING DOESNT COST THAT MUCH.

Why does installing a video card cost more? Jesus, installing stuff is easy. Just look for the place where it fits (lol).
