So someone please explain to me, in great detail, what the hell happened to FA website/forums, who are the good guys, the bad guys, who pwned who, who had an affair with the other guy's girlfriend, etc. Was there some sort of prelude to all of this late yesterday (Monday) night on the FA forums that I missed and would have explained everything?

WAW is being developed by some of the FA team members, and most of the admins and mods here were admins and mods on the FA forums. Why is it a big deal? One, like maddog said, it is not allowed to be ported to any other engine other than HL1, and two, they illegally took over the forums and basically finished off killing FA.

The reason why is it's our work. We don't want to see other people getting famous or popular off a mod that they didn't create. Or the other way around, we don't want them dragging FA into shit, and thus smearing our name. WaW is NOT FA, but as the team is largely the same, we have a reputation to uphold.

Finally, it's always been ben's wish to kill FA when it was time to kill it. This has been public for quite some time now, so you can't act like you didn't know.

I just feel some fresh blood without all the prejudices of the old would have been better. I mean some of the FA mods openly admit to hating clanners when they kept them in the job with FA.

I just find it ironic that the history is still being written by the winners - oh well i guess it always is :)

So far the only people who have been excluded from this new board and mod are the ones who committed a crime. Yes, it was a crime, don't try to argue it. The mods haven't excluded anyone except jonjon, goss, and snap, and they got what they deserved. Any clanners you don't see here aren't here either because they don't want to be, or they already did something here to get banned. The mods are too professional (yes, I'm using that word, they've been doing this for a long time) to let personal prejudices get in the way of their moderating jobs.

And you're free to leave here anytime you want if you don't like it here, nobody's forcing you to stay.

These mods were chosen by the WaW Team, and originally by the FA Team. They were here before everyone else (granted that's because the WaW Team invited them over), and they've already proven over the years that they know how to handle things. How many unfair moderations did you see back in the FA Forums? I saw few to none, and they always gave the ones they banned a chance to explain themselves on #fa_admin, not to mention that there was always a blanket unban at every new version.

Not to mention, the "other side" was made up of three retards who decided to go and do something illegal just to try to revive an almost-dead mod. Sure, they were entitled to their opinions, but that stops at the point when they try to hijack a forum in order to achieve their goals. They got what they deserved, and I hope they get sued too. Let me outline a little idea for you: I make a post because I am concerned that certain moderators are still as biased as always and are now carping on about some fresh start and how things are going to be so much better (new labour anyone :P ).

So I make a post - I dont flame, I dont swear but I make a rather controversial point (at least with certain mods).

And what do I get:

An emotive, bitter response from a moderator showing exactly the prejudice I am talking about.

I could not disagree more - yes of course they have opinions - but people with opinions such as "leet clanners are the problem in this game" should not be moderators. From what I have seen so far - they are trying to force their opinions on the community

You get bans and strikes for breaking the rules, not hating the moderators. Many members of the OTF are proof of that.

Yes, the point of a mod is to let people have fun, but where does that fun go when idiots and hackers come? Now I'm not calling you an idiot or hacker, but it's not exactly welcoming when someone comes and starts bitching about how the moderators hate all clanners. I'm not saying that the moderators are perfect either, but there is a reason that they're moderators.

Perhaps that is true, but you really can't blame the mods for that, can you? After all, look at what has led us here, namely last month's incident. Let's go over that. They were chosen by the FA Team originally. If they were terrible at their jobs or abused their powers (in a way that mattered, OTF doesn't count), they would have lost their mod privileges, and someone else would be a mod. Now I'm sure that's happened at least once before, but most of these mods have been here since before the old FA forum. If they sucked at being mods, they wouldn't be mods anymore. Simple as that.

goss, jonjon, and snap were free to go to the FAR site. They didn't. They chose to hijack the forum instead. I wasn't there when it happened, but I'm damn glad they're gone from here. Now I'm sure that there were other people from the "FA is L337 WaW sux" crowd that felt the same way, but they didn't go and hijack the forum. They were free to go to FAR (which some of them did, I'm sure). But as I said, if something like that happens, you'd feel the same way the mods do.

As I said, you have goss, jonjon, and snap to thank for what happened. Not me.

What I meant by the "FA is L337 WaW sux" crowd was the people who didn't want to see FA die. Yes, nobody wanted to see that, but it was going to happen sooner or later. That didn't mean that you had to go and hijack a forum to try to revive it. But you have to admit, at the time, there were people who didn't want to see WaW because they thought it was going to kill FA. Some of those people, I'm sure, are at the FAR site now; they have every right to do that, I'm not going to argue that. What I am doing is directing my hate towards the fucktards that killed FA, or at the very least hastened its death.

Their cause may have been "noble," but they did kill the forums. If anything, as I said, they hastened its fall, even though it was dying. I miss FA too, but my sympathy stops at the point where they threaten the FA Team. There's only so much you can do before crossing the line.

1. Yes, anyone is welcome here so long as they follow the rules.
2. I'm an administrator/team member, not a moderator.
3. I indeed was in RA, but not the one you're thinking. Clan Ruthless Assassins was created in 2.3 by Rikimaru0. I was one of the first recruits into the clan. It eventually grew and grew, became competitive, dropped out of some leagues, and most of the members left to join AESIR. I did not leave, but kept my RA clan tags. The last competitive game I played with RA was in 2.5. By 2.7 I was one of two or three people remaining who still wore the old RA tags. JonJon eventually decided to restart the competitive RA clan. I talked to him and told him that as long as they played clean, and didn't dishonor the name, I had no problem with it, however I was going to continue to wear my RA tags even though I was never part of the new competitive RA (jonjon's RA.)

So the short answer is, yes I'm RA, no it's not the same RA as JonJons.

Fair point - I take that back then and apologise about the RA link.

It would appear also that I have let my emotions get the better of me these past few days - perhaps there was more feeling in me towards FA than I thought.

I do genuinely want WaW to be a sucess and actually look forward to it - I realise now my rather aggresive posting was not the best way to highlight my concerns and for that also I apologise. - I still really dont like being branded a selfish elite clanner as I feel its rather unfair but what the hell.

I guess like Alex says perhaps there is inevitably a lot of fall out from FA and WaW will always be linked with it like the ball and chain. Personally I dont really hate anyone or have any reason to, but perhaps I do need to let it go.

So ill try to close that now bitter chapter in my life and hopefully open a new one.

He contributed some work for the FireArms mod, and was a FAL admin for a little while. Now it seems his hands are at work on other projects....
