Well fucking shit. I got back on weekend and I start up my comp and my microsoft optical USB mouse isnt working. I go apeshit on it, plugging it into every USB, it doesnt light up at all.

I grab my dads oldschool non-usb optical mouse and plug it in, and it works, and then the keyboard doesnt work. So I find some generic optical USB mouse and plug that in while my dads mouse is in, and unplug his mouse, and the other one works fine.

That was last night.

Today I turn computer on and THAT mouse isnt working. The non-usb mouse is working fine, and I go apeshit some more. I plug in my old (working as of last week friday) mouse into the USB, and it lights up for a bit and works, so I go to log in and my keyboard isnt working.

As soon as I restart my comp the mouse stops working and keyboard does.

Now Im using the non-usb mouse with my non-usb keyboard and it seems to be working okay, but I need my own mouse and Im not sure if buying a new USB mouse will do anything because my USB drives seem to be cursed.

Questions:

wtf?

and if my USBs are fucked.... what do I do to fix it? Is that a whole new motherboard? I ordered this PC from ibuypower, and am very scared to open it and mess around.

Go into Start -> (Settings if you don't use XP or have the "classic start menu" enabled) -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager and screenshot what's in there, then post it here. Also, you may want to check your BIOS to see if "Legacy USB" (or similar wording, it allows older USB devices to work on newer USB controllers) has been turned off by some clown. If does turn out to be a hardware problem that we can't fix, don't panic:

Oh, and

and if my USBs are fucked.... what do I do to fix it?

lol
