CINDY SHEEHAN CALLS FOR U.S TO 'PULL OUR TROOPS OUT OF OCCUPIED NEW ORLEANS'
Mon Sep 12 2005 12:42:11 ET
Celebrity anti-war protester, fresh off inking a lucrative deal with Speaker's Bureau, has demanded at the HUFFINGTON POST and MICHAEL MOORE'S website that the United States military must immediately leave 'occupied' New Orleans.
"I don't care if a human being is black, brown, white, yellow or pink. I donŐt care if a human being is Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, or pagan. I don't care what flag a person salutes: if a human being is hungry, then it is up to another human being to feed him/her. George Bush needs to stop talking, admit the mistakes of his all around failed administration, pull our troops out of occupied New Orleans and Iraq, and excuse his self from power. The only way America will become more secure is if we have a new administration that cares about Americans even if they donŐt fall into the top two percent of the wealthiest."
Sheehan is in the middle of a bus trip across America in support of her cause.

I feel bad for Bush having to deal with nuts like her. He is doing the best job that he can and he is getting f*cked over by some stupid b*tch. "Occupied New Orleans". Why don't we let people of the welfare state just run around killing each other and killing innocent people just trying to survive? That sounds like a great idea you fucking retarded whore.

Noone quits while they are ahead anymore. If she wanted more media attention, she could have just wrote a book on how much she hates bush.

No that's what I'm saying.....who is she trying to win at this point? What is she trying to do? grasp onto those 15 minutes? Even the left isn't supporting the NO claim. The right obviously doesn't like her. But what group is she appealing to with this "leave NO" thing......BTW I read that she's considering moving there.

If she does, I hope a fucking hurricane picks up a boat and drops it on top of her, she totally betrayed her dead son by using him as a focal point for an anti-war protest, because he obviously supported the cause if he re-enlisted in the middle of the war. She is the bottom of the barrel of all things I hate.

True, that. I mean, it's one thing to not like a president, and hate his military actions in foreign counties, but protesting the blue angels is rediculous! I don't even think they enter into combat (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I heard that somewhere) And wanting the only force keeping armed thugs from stealing all the food, water, ect, insted of letting everyone have some, is totally idiotic.
Personally, I think she's just doing it to get noticed, now.

this is true, the blue angels are a demonstration team, not a combat unit. They are test pilots, by nature. And they do a much more dangerous job than some combat units do. And Cindy Sheeslut protesting them is just offensive to me, and to all soldiers, pilots, and pretty much any patriot.

I wouldn't go as far to say that I'm offended, I just don't understand her. She's a total nut-ball...doing more harm than good for everybody, on both sides of the spectrum.

Y'know, it's a wonder that these two incidents (protesting the Blue Angels and the troops aiding in NO) haven't made major headlines; so far any major headline I've seen about her is still about her anti-war protest against Iraq. Maybe there is some truth to the "liberal media" :p.

LOL, maybe, but I think the recent hurricanes themselves and the damage done by katrina are taking the spotlight.
Still... doesn't change the fact I lost all respect for her.... Wait a minute, I never respected her! I guess this means I have negative respect for her?

Back on topic:
A bit of my own opinion on Sheehan: I think it was kinda brave of her to take the fight against Bush, when nobody else did. Now these two other incidents are pretty crazy, but you gotta admit, she's got guts for stepping up against Bush in the first place, even if everyone thinks she's a crazy bitch now.

Well, it wasn't back when his poll numbers were still above 50%. It's only now that they're somewhere around 40% or so that people are starting to criticize him.
Actually, that brings up another thing I've been thinking on. Do people start criticizing a President only when his poll numbers begin to slip, or does the criticizing cause the poll numbers to drop? Something to think about.

Hell, no. You won't find an aspiring, sitting, or former President who isn't the target of dead-catting and rotten-tomatoing.

You're not the only one. But that's probably because a lot of people don't know what Cheney would do in his place if he were President, and assumes he would do a better job.
Hell, no. You won't find an aspiring, sitting, or former President who isn't the target of dead-catting and rotten-tomatoing.
Well, actually I meant mass criticizing. I know that no matter what there's always someone to criticize a standing President, but this is my first time witnessing and actually remembering the end part of a President's term (I don't remember criticism of Clinton very well). It just seems to me that since his poll numbers have begun to drop, more and more people have started coming out of the woodwork.

Clinton received the same negative attention for his affair, but this was back when Republicans were the popular thing to be(not that they still aren't, which is why they control everything right now), the media just looks for ratings, and criticizing the president is the best way to get them it seems.

Still far from a new phenomenon to those of us with effective memories of the Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, and Bush Sr. administrations.....who, unlike Lincoln, weren't in the habit of jailing indefinitely those who dared criticize them personally.

Could you enlighten me on what made Johnson and Bush Sr. unpopular?
In short, wars. Or, to be realistic, what resulted from those wars. Johnson brought the US into Vietnam, and kept urging Congress to send more troops for a few years, to no visible positive effect on the TV screens of the American public. Bush Sr. got popular because of the war, but afterwards it mounted such a high cost that he had to break his campaign promise and raise taxes (and I don't really see the big problem with that, IMO Bush Sr. was actually a good president); although the public has a short memory of broken promises made by politicians, he had the misfortune of having to raise the taxes more than halfway through his term.

Johnson brought the US into Vietnam.....
Negative, that was Truman. Johnson's role was merely to expand the presence beyond advisory details.
