Changing BF2 Nicknames

Hey, I recently discovered that you can change your nickname/game name for BF2, but I can't get it to work, can anyone help guide me through this please?


Using the EA Downloader, a option comes up on the welcome screen saying "Edit Battlefield2 Nickname"

Once you click on it, there's a tab called "Downloads Info", I entered my desiered name and clicked "OK" and then get the massage

"Your Battlefield 2 account name has been changed to What.ever"

but when i get in the game, it's still the same, someone wanna help me out?

Your name in BF2 is your GameSpy Nick, not your BF2 name (stupid, I know, but that's how she works).

I think what you're changing there is your EA/BF2 web-name. Meaning what you use to log into EA downloader and the BF2 veteran's program and such.


As far as I know there is no way to edit your in-game name. Once you make one you're stuck with it. Trust me, if there's a way, I'd love to know. I forgot my password when I made a "lustymuffins" account. My brother-in-law stole "lustymuffin" cause he wants to be cool like me so I did "lustymuffin2" later realizing that a "5" in place of the "2" would be a little bit more undumb.



-edit- Just found this console command but I kinda doubt it'll work/I want to try it. I'll just C/P the whole local.profile string of console commands and if you're brave enough you can try 'em out. If they don't work or fuck something up I'm not losing 65,000 points.

localProfile.setName [name] - Sets the name for your current account

localProfile.setNick [nick] - Sets the nickname for your current account

localProfile.setGamespyNick [GameSpyNick] - Sets the GameSpy login name for your account

localProfile.setEmail [email account] - Sets the email account for the current account

localProfile.setPassword [password] - Sets the password for the current account

localProfile.setNumTimesLoggedIn [number] - Sets the number of times the player has logged in with the current account

localProfile.setTotalPlayedTime [seconds] - Sets the time the game has been played using the current account

localProfile.save -

Yeah I remember people testing this and screaming how they lost their account(gamespot forums anyways).
