View Full Version : Blurry LCD

I just got a Viewsonic 17" LCD and while it kicks ass, I am annoyed by a small thing. On the right-middle side of the monitor, I notice a slight "blurryness", that isn't very noticible in games, but makes text on the right-middle side of the screen a little less sharp than text on the left side. Is there anything I can do to fix this or will I just have to live with it?

Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the cable?

Didn't help.

Did you connect by VGA or DVI?

It only connects with VGA ;_;

If I used the adapter that I have would it be any different?

No. All the adapter does is use the analog part of the DVI connector.

Well, that sucks. There's really not much you can do about it, then. =/

I could and get the hans-g with DVI, but Newegg would be like excuz me wtf r u doin because there is technically nothing wrong with it.... and I'm kinda low on funds now 'till my next paycheck so I'll just live with it.

Just an obvious question, did you try the "Auto-Adjust" usually found on LCD screens? If it's not a button on the monitor, try fishing around in the on-screen panel for it. Your problem sounds a lot like a calibration issue.

Yeah my friend's Compaq LCD monitor does this and the only way to "fix" it was to scroll through one of the options to watch the blur-bar go partially off-screen.

I really can't remember what this option's called but IIRC there was a horizontal and a vertical. Maybe I'll ask him for ya and get back to you.

Oh man... I found this thing called "phaze" and fiddled with it and I think that fixed the problem... thanks guys :)

Is there a difference performance wise between VGA and DVI?

No.

DVI is sharper, and looks significantly better than VGA when doing a side-by-side comparison.

The biggest advantage I noticed with DVI is that there's a lot less colour "bleeding" between pixels; in my experience with my Samsung 930b there's a dramatic quality jump on DVI.
