Would it be possible to make a VCD with a DVD? I want to load up my whole collection of Mythbusters on a couple of DVD's but I'm not quite sure how to do it. I'm HOPING that I can stick in a DVD and make a VCD with Nero of VCD Easy like usual.

I was told by one person that I COULD do this but I'd need to convert all my MPEG-1 files to MPEG-2. Frankly, if there's a shorter way, I'd appreciate it because it takes a long time to convert even WITH a 3.2 GHz processor w/ HT.

Sure. You'll only be allowed 700 megs on them, though. Otherwise, you have to "acquire" an upgraded version of Nero that would allow you to make a video DVD.

Er.. you are recording onto DVD media? Why not make a DVD rather than a VCD?

If you only care about playing them on your PC then just write the episodes to a DVD in data mode... this'll treat them like any other file. If you're really lucky your DVD player might be new enough to play Divx or Xvid encoded video.

That's how I backup my anime - I get 24 ish episodes to one data DVD. However, if I turn them into MPEG2 and create a "proper" DVD then I can usually only get 3 to 4 eps a DVD.

If you're gonna put it on DVD it's gonna take a long time because of all the transcoding, there's no way around that if you want it to play on your tv. Making VCDs out of DVDs doesn't make sense, you should really just be making a DVD with them in order. If you have a DVD burner you probably have software to burn DVDs that you can play on your TV's DVD player.

Yeah I uninstalled Nero 7 premium and reinstalled Nero 6 Ultra (both legit :p) and WHAMMY! I have DVD-movie making support.

So I spent 4 hours making a DVD of Jackass season 3 just for test and the first 10 chapters (half the DVD) doesn't play.

All the chapters that have menu buttons with animations are the ones that don't work.

1). For some reason my chapters didn't place exactly where I put them
2). Only the first 10 chapters are in the menu.

So, in summary, I've decided to not make chapters in any forthcoming movies I burn. NAY! Not even title menus, if possible. This should clear up that problem.

PS - I would've said "Can I make a DVD?" but I was doing what lord Nero was telling me I could do and that was limited to "Copy DVD" and "Make miniDVD". "Premium" my anal cavity.

Yeah, unfortunately burning your own DVDs is a touchy thing to do. I'm not sure where the problem lies, if it's the burning software, or the DVD players, but making chapters and custom menus creates more of a headache than a convenience.

Is it dual layer? If not you will have to shrink it down using a free program called DVD shrink.
