My comp died yesterday, just as I got the DoW xpack too. :P LITERALLY as I got it, my computer acted as if there had been a power cut-it switched off as if the plug had been pulled, then spluttered back to life, before dying. (Fucking owned? Pwnd, even? Oh yes.) All attempts to ressurect the shit have failed. If you guys have ideas, I'm open to them.

My brother's lent me his computer, which is, barring sound card, identical to mine. However, his stutters like an idiot sometimes. When I highlight text to copy/cut for example, it freezes. In fact, this is the second time I'm typing this post out because of it. It also stutters in Winter Assault. So tell me guys, how can I perseude (EDIT: Just to be perfectly clear, what options should I enable/disable in windows. And for the record, the soundcard is better than mine) this... amazing... machine to actually remove it's diget (or fist) from it's arsehole and actually use it megahurtz. :p

psu is most likely, however, anything could cause it. you're going to need to replace each part one by one and see which is the faulty one.

Before you go looking to far, remove the mother board. Check all the traces and the power sockets (20 pin and the 4 pin) for signs of damage.

Same thing happened to me. Brownout ,motherboard tool then reported 2.6V on the 3.3V rail so I pulled out the PSU and noticed that the 3.3 pins on the motherboard's ATX power socket had melted :(

Well, the guy who built it is local and it's under warrentee (as It's not that old-less than a year IIRC) so it'll be fine. It's still an arsepain though, as is the game stuttering every 3 seconds for 0.5-6 seconds. :(

Check the PSU and the wall socket, if you have aluminum wiring, it could be plugged into a Copper Wiring socket and that could be causing your PSU to go wonky, that was my problem when this sort of thing happened to me

just connect the psu from your relation's computer into yours and see if it works.
