I'm moving out in a week, and I won't have internet.
Is it possible to play Half-Life still? Or am I shit out of luck

you can make it start up in offline mode when it detects that there is no internet connection.

did you disconnect from the internets? It has to detect no internet connection for it to ask that.

Whuh hit the dot there. Just disconnect completely from the Internets, and start Steam up. It should say that it can't detect a connection and gives you the option to play in Offline Mode. Obviously, only single player games will be available to you, though you can probably play some multiplayer games by yourself.

old style steam had a really awkward thing in which it refused to start if you couldnt log on, but if you disconnected afterwards it worked fine in offline mode. you jsut ahd to remember not to close it
of course that was a while back, they may well have fixed it (ahem, I'll stop laughing)

They actually have. I was without the internet for a day here at college, and I could play with bots and such fine in offline mode.
