Dvd drive does not read games at all

Wont even recognise them when i put them in. This has happened with the fear dvd and san andreas. I have a HP dvd 740b writer. I have looked everywhere for answers but have found nothing. I have no idea what is wrong.


-EDIT- it reads regualr CD's just not any DVD games

Have you recently used it to play any Ubisoft games? I wonder if Starforce copy protection has been installed on your PC.

i dont see how that has anything to do with my dvd drive not recognizing my games.

Because both of those DRM protection schemes replace the windows drivers with their own which has lead to lots of instability issues and drive failures. I'll admit I'm reaching here but it is an avenue to explore.
