I'm was losing HD performance so I decided to do a defrag. By all that's holy, Azureus makes a mess of video file storage... it was almost all red!

However, the Windows defrag utility sucks balls and I still have a ton of fragmented files. So I'm wondering if anyone can recommend me a decent 3rd party one (preferably free or shareware) ?

DKL is the same as regular Windows Defrag, from what I've read. And the files you're downloading through Azureus will right themselves as you complete them, or at least they do for me.

Except the defragger that comes with windows freaks out with large files.

If you're down with CLI-based applications, try out Dirms-CL. Very good defragmenter.

Otherwise the best I can think of is Diskeeper, although I wasn't too keen on it.

You got a problem with software programmed by Scientologists?

I've got a problem with the fact that it overheated one of my laptops' hard drive the first time I tried it, and cooked it's bearings. The file system was still fragmented to hell.

Great software >:/

I ended up using O&O defragger.... now all my files are nicely in place and I have a large empty space at the end of my drives.

Yeah I use O&O for big defrag jobs. Diskeeper pro for lite defrag jobs (when I don't forget to defrag regularly)
