We'll set aside wheather or not its a good game for another discussion (I remember SWAT saying it was a turd), but this made me take notice: (note all spelling mistakes are from the article not me)

Kuma Reality Games boss is 'surprised' to find hostility from Iranian people with their game, 'US attacks Iran'.

Next-Gen Sister site, EDGE-online is reporting that Kuma Reality games are in trouble again.

Press in Iran are appalled at the recent Kuma release "U.S. attacks Iran" in which a crack U.S. special forces team move through Iranian nuclear facilities, gunning down opponents. According to a Reuteus report, "The game's trailer plays pounding music and starkly asks: "Diplomacy has failed ... Is nothing to be done?." U.S. troops then strafe a car, leap out of helicopters and prowl around menacingly before blowing things up."

"Americans have a deep craving for an attack against Iran, but they are going to have to settle for this make-believe assault," wrote the Kayhan daily, whose editor is appointed directly by Iran's Supreme Leader.

On October 12th, www.persianpetition.com posted a notive asking Kuma to withdraw the game - it has received over 5000 signatures."We must make the Americans understand that Iran is different from Iraq and Afghanistan, where they just did what they wanted," the petition reads.

Kuma boss Keith Halper told Reuters, ""The controversy does surprise me. I just didn't expect that there were people from Iran who were going to become aware of it."

It's just more straw man "What do you mean we have terrible unemployment? LOOK LOOK AMERICA IS BAD LOOK LOOK!" antics from their tightly-controlled newspapers. Every minute their citizens spend hating America is a minute they aren't spending getting fed up with their own government.

The reason anyone even bothers to try KUMA is because it's a hot topic, people and reviews have told me the gameplay sucks (this was about 9months ago though, may have been patched since)

this is the Ann Coulter or Jack Thompson of video games, ignore it and it will die

Well, what did you expect him to say publicly....."Yeah, and tough shit if you don't like it"?

he's been confronted before... there was a time where they made a mission based off a US marine (army.. whatever) who died in iraq... they got a huge petition and removed the mission...

I actually considered getting this game once (about two years ago), since I thought it would be bad-ass to play actual missions from Iraq, but then I heard that you have to pay for it, and then I heard that it sucks. But I hear that they've patched it since then to make it playable.

Anyways, back on topic. It's hardly surprising IMO, considering the diplomatic situation between the two countries. If you're going to base a game off of real world events, there's no way that you won't end up offending one person or another.
