There is a company down the road (literally 3 minutes walk) who are looking for someone who is computer literate. They will train the person in metal engineering and i assume they want the person to use thier computer skills on something like CAD or some such.
im studying the computer route.
do i try and get the job with these guys and see how it goes? i need to start making money, and they are going to do the training, so maybe i should look into it?
your opinions please. D:

Yea, the two worse things that can happen are:
1. They don't want you.
2. You find you don't want to do the job.
And you wouldn't know unless you try, hell, a month from now you might be telling us how this is the best job ever, and move up in the company and make tons. :D

Are you planning to do a bachelors degree in engineering some time down the track?

i dont know exactly the sort of engineering i'd be working on, all i know is that it has to do with metalwork and lathework. i got the application form today, im filling it out and i'll see if they want me to rock up for an interview. :o

Wait, are you sure that's engineering?

It seems to me like its probably CAC/CAM work, which is fun and all, but tedious and engineering in the old sense of the word (advanced metalwork rather than proper design engineering).
That's cool if you are interested in it, but the computer skills will most likely be CAD jockeying which put me to sleep 30mins into my first class.
btw I've got a bachelors in aerospace engineering so even though you hate me, feel free to talk to me about the job if you have any questions.

lol, i might have to do that. its actually an aerospace company that works with defense contractors in north america, as well commercial companies such as airbus. i sent the application off but they reckon they will only respond in about 3 - 4 weeks time because they are very busy at the moment. i hope i get a chance. :)
