Free MMORTS, people who pay get various bonus's like slightly fast xp gain, and no level cap (you can still get pretty damn high with the cap, months of play + before you hit it easily).
I've been thinking about starting up a new account and playing again (since I think my old account is gone), and I was wondering if any of you dudes wanted to, aswell. Ideally we'd get on the same side so we could work together and what not (its like planetside, 3 factions fight over land etc).
The client is like a 170mb download and its 2d looking much like wc2 or starcraft. Its sci-fi setting, with alien, foot, armor, and air units.
I made a guy named DunNa, on the "Troy" faction. It seemed to have the lowest pop so we shouldn't run into issues getting anyone on the same side.

I just made a new account afew hours ago without any problems (no money or anything, didn't even ask for a card number for verification or some shit). Just load up the game, create new hero (or whatever) and go from there. You will need a fresh email iirc.

There has been something like 4 versions of the crater over the years... The first was a single poc "open" map with basicly no obstructions save trees. The second was my personal favorite, single poc + starport + on an island with only 4 ramps to access, this was the traditional one both of us played on in colledge. The third was a double poc "all or nothing" map meaning the attacking team had to take both pocs or piss off, it was also the only version of crater to NOT have a repair shop. The current version of crater is single poc, with lots of land obstructions to help funnel people but its more open feeling than the old one with the starport.
Personnally the current crater is "ok" I really miss the star port since it allowed you to spawn at the center as soon as you claimed the crater but other than that this is decent. Also by opening it up as much as they have its alot harder to camo wall off a place though still possible if your a tact whore.
If any of you have any gameplay questions just ask.

What are those mech looking thingies?
Actually, better question, what else has changed since I last played?
DunNa
February 13th, 2007, 04:47 AM
Those are wriths or writes or something like that... Basicly a new elite unit like aboms or quorgs.
There are afew new battle types, such as victory and all or nothing. Victory is basicly a tickets style map (think FA tickets) they gradually decay and the more pocs you hold the better. Basicly its a game mode that really frowns on "super poccers at 3min" strat that all the big regis use.
There are also lithubiks now, basicly think slow ghasts for organics... Atleast thats the easist way I can think to explain them.
Almost all the other changes really don't matter much unless you intend to pay and such. Like uranium and gold weapons are for payers only. They no longer have overlords as far as I can tell and there is some insane regi cap now like 99 or something so each faction isn't stuck with 10 regis.
Over all though most things are about the same. clout is still 2pts per effect, as is edu. Tactics is every 20 starting at 20. MA is some annoying ass equation I can't remember off the top of my head.
I'm on troy (the whites). the other two factions are pompie (blue) and helkite (green) helkite has alot of the leet people but its also always pop capped as usual :P
For relic 28 clout looks like the magic number. That will allow you to get nukers, condors, and gryphs... mainly nukers. From there I can't really decide I'm torn between edu/ma and tact whore. Currently leaning to 20/28/40/rest
That would give me 7, nukers with the tl45 nuke which to be honest sounds pretty damn nice. I'd have alot of MA with that so I should be able to fit some pretty durable wraiths or moths for poccing if needed. It'd also give me some pretty pimp condors (though I didn't exactly go and figure it all out). If I ever go to MP again I would probably pay atleast for a month and respec to all out tact/ma cause that was just loads of fun.
Oh and people still have the same mastery of english as ever... It makes me feel good with my shitty grammar :P

What side are you on? If I can't switch over I'll just make a new guy since I was stupid and pumped edu before tacts (you'd think I would have remembered that :( ). So I'll need to basicly be releveling some dudes and what not anyhow.

Then I shall make a blue dude, the name is not known yet... Probably something like phallus, phallic, etc. Just for old times sake.
Oh and some nifty info for other people.
Poc = Point of Capture, basicly they are things your team needs to hold/capture. To capture them ground units need to stand on them for a certian period of time.
FP = Fast Poc, generally speaking when you are attacking a map and instead of going for a traditional win you use fast units and rush all the pocs. Generally when this is trying to be accomplished someone will be saying "FP" alot.
EG = End Game, this is generally the last 3-5minutes of a round. In this time you will want your EG units (suprising eh?). So either retreat out or get your guys killed off. You want either poc clearers, sitters, or heavy poccers at this time.
Poc Clearer = some form of "aoe" high damage. Good examples of this are Imps with flame throwers, war pigeons with bombs, LOTS of ghasts (if you don't have high tact its not that great), or artillery units like arbelests or trebechets. Though my personal favorite are deavas with grenades, they do armor peircing splash damage (aka mad fucking damage).
Sitters = Big fat durable units that sit on a poc and don't let other people on (so they cannot capture it). Behmoths, Abominations, Quorgs, any unit in high numbers that can camo, leviathans with shield. Camo is really powerful in this respect though generally speaking you just need TONS of hp+armor and maybe a really small weapon or some kind.
Heavy poccers = the big bad bitchs that just don't die. Generally speaking they will have no weapons, no anything, besides the most hp+armor possible. Most good players that are poccers will use biological/infantry units to poc with. They do so for afew reasons, but the main one is that they can be healed by medics. The general "non-payer" poccer set is 4x Revenents +2-3 warp medics. You send 2 revs onto the poc, when they get low send the other two on, when those get low start slowly warping in medics and healing. It takes abit of practice but once mastered you have a near impossible to beat poccer setup. This also works with quorgs, aboms, and wraiths.
Random terms
Wulus = N00b, worthless player. Generally if some guy is calling you this hes insulting you.
Cao ni ma = chinese, which basicly means "fuck your mother" its kinda like calling someone a mother fucker or saying you boned there mom last night. This is an insult.
la, le, liao = random things asians throw on the ends of there statements for almost no apparent reason. These can basicly be ignored as they have no real meaning.
Ni Hao (or just Hao) = basicly chinese for hello. Generally if they are saying this they are being friendly/nice and not insulting at all.
Bu = NO! if someone is saying your name + Bu it means stop what you are doing. Such as sitting on a poc, or not sitting on a poc. Its normally not ment as an insult but can be at times depending on its use.
These doods should hire me to write a FAQ for them :P

What's up with all the talk about tickets? Some dudes were bitching about finally getting one for a battle and I was confused.
Oh yeah, what does it mean to be a mercenary? All I know is that I'm getting an xp bonus for it, but it hasn't really changed anything.

Currently there is an event going on. Called "glory battle" or some such. Basicly by fighting in "large" battles you get a ticket, once you get a certian number of tickets you get an award.
50=medal
200=medal + 100 uranium
400=medal + more uranium (I haven't heard a solid answer on how much)
The medal varies at each point, and basicly gets an extra oakleaf at each thing.
Oh yeah, what does it mean to be a mercenary? All I know is that I'm getting an xp bonus for it, but it hasn't really changed anything.
It used to move you around factions to whoever was considered the "weakest". Now I am not positive as I heard they have changed it. People used to use it to get characters onto the "full" faction by logging in at "low pop times" and basicly would futher over power that faction.
Hurm I just made a new guy and merc'd over to troy appearently. You could probably do the same, just merc on and relog. I couldn't create anyone on pompei as it was locked :(

So, I guess that it just pops me into whatever faction that it feels like.

It really depends on the time your playing but theres a large asian/chinese population and they are hardkore and play like 23 hours aday at lan centers or some shit.
Currently I'm merc as is stig which basicly means we get sent to whichever faction has the lowest pop when we log on but get a XP bonus.

Oh good fucking god, lithubiks are like crack........
They do something like 200-ish damage per hit on like a 2-3sec CD nothing great but its good damage. They have a special ability called frenzy. Basicly you turn this on and it speeds up there CD to like .5 seconds or something absurd like that. The downside is that it drains there health as you have it on eventually killing them.
I seriously cleared a poc solo aginst heavy aboms with my set of like lvl3 lithubiks. We are talking like 3x Aboms, acouple hydras, etc all wiped in a matter of seconds. My lithubiks died in the process but it was complete and total carnage.

Currently I have
8x imps (infills)
8x Chims
8x eagles
8x poda
8x lithubiks
and 8x open which I'm debating about what to use atm, they were arbs but everyone and there mother is hunting arbs nowadays.

Well, we're both Mercs right now, which means that we don't really have a home faction.
If I had to pick one to settle down in, I'd probably go with Pompeii. Troy just sucks in general and fighting for them just leads to disappointment. Hellike is filled with faggots so they are out. Pompeii is a happy medium.
My current setup is :
8 x Hawks
8 x Oizys
8 x Ghasts (Lithubuks are too slow for my tastes)
8 x Spectres
8 x Manticores
8 x ???
I need something for the End Game, but I'm not sure what to get. Maybe Wraiths or Behemoths.
I played around with Arbs, but they're just too open to getting owned by everything. Ballista seem to be the same way. The mining units could probably be effective if I was more patient.
I'd probably get a set of Condors if I didn't fucking hate them so much.
DunNa

Imps are pimps lololol... Seriously there flame attack can cover a whole poc so when people are warping in medics or covering a poc with loads of podas, your burning all there asshairs at once. They can go infill or cloak so they really wouln't get auto-attacked. The main downside is they are slow, and generally speaking big targets which any halfwitted player will throw themselves at (or kite you into oblivion). Though they are awesome for poc clearing, if you wanted to go the poccing route try either podas or wraiths, personnally I hate poccing endgame since payers with special org units are about 100x better than you can hope to be.
Though if your set on poccing, go for like a 4x bio poccers (wraiths or revs) and 4x medics (warp). You should stagger the wraiths onto the poc and only use your medics on the final wraith. You should start moving the replacement wraiths onto the poc so they are on when the current one is at about half health. Warp the medics one at a time and start doing so at 1/2 health of the last wraith.
That is about the best poccing setup you can get without paying.
Oh and try 7x nukers 1x Redeye. 7x nukes specially the tl45s are going to wipe most any poc clean and then some and dropping in sets of 3 and four is generally enough to kill most random units (2 are enough for arbs/that sorta shit). That redeye will give you the ability to scan and or jam depending on the setup. The scanning will let you find clumps of units to nuke while being jammed, and the jamming will make you alot harder to hunt down and in general annoy the other team to no end (always a noble goal). Another option is 6x nukers, 1x redeye, 1x volte (to keep the nukes and scans/jams coming all night long).
As for me I got sent to never never land... aka MP, appearently they have an automove thing once you hit 22 you have a time to either pledge up or get auto-moved up. I chose to just pledge up so I could pick my faction (the blue guys, Atlantis) which are currently "the best" though the greens are also pretty strong, though red is sorta the laughing stock of MP it seems. I'm debating making a new guy and trying to hold at 21 in all divisions or just keep going and wait for you guys to get sent up.

DunNa
February 21st, 2007, 06:13 AM
Condors are awesome, they are just sorta worthless if your hellbent on winning.
Since 7 years ago they have added an air mine remover to them and thats basicly there only real use for the super competitive types and even then they normally only spawn one or two + some sappers with land mine removal + some support shit like redeye, volte, triage, etc.
I just really enjoy blasting an entire set of pigs, nixs, or hawks out of the sky like it was nothing then shooting giant white balls (that are supposed to be missles) at things.

Well I just got an email sometime today from Kru (the SG people) and they gave me my old account back (sent me the id's and new passwords). So I have a guy on Pacifica (red) on MP with 1 rienc, a set of quorts and hes currently Edu spec'd. If I pay again I can get more quorgs respect etc which I am considering doing. Oh yeah named Phallus

Sorry for the necro, but I just saw this thread.
I stopped playing about 2 months ago.
Ask around on relic if anyone knows me. I was bludgerLZ. I have over 100k prestige and about 6 medals and quorgs and stuff. IIRC one of my regi mates made my own regi with my char, so I dont move to MP.
IMO, dont go to MP. If you want to be competitive, you have to play every day for hours and hours, and you have to have heaps of reincs. Low reinc players cant compete.
If you want any tips or stats or anything, I know it all for relic. I was one of the best players on relic. I was a council member in DeathAngelz, which I hear is back alive and kicking.
My stats used to be 5/10/52/27...i think
Heres a tip: Condors suck, lithubiks suck, pegasus suck, 95% gryphs suck, 98% imps suck, nukers are mainly useless, oizys suck but they are a bitch
