Is it wrong to think that torturing animals before you kill them would make them taste better?
I recall something about adrenaline making the meat sweeter or something like that.

I wouldn't say it's wrong to think it, but practicing it is definitely wrong.

hrm well it depends...I wouldn't approve of it, but the throretical discussion of it is in no way out of the question.
Plus I can totally see, surpising animals, or giving them adrenaline shots before we murder then for meat becoming common place if it does in fact make them taste better.

Huh?
He doesn't mean wrong, he means is it true that adrenaline improves the taste of food. I'm guessing by "biologically" he means is it physically possible.

I didn't realize he was asking a question regarding the descriptive and not normative aspects of such a thought.

I still think he was only asking a normative question, "Is it wrong to think that p" where p = "Torturing animals before you kill them would make them taste better." Not "Is p true?" I dunno how you get that from his reply. I thought you gave a perfectly good answer.

but p^2+2pq+q^2=1, so in fact, you are wrong.

Wow. Read the second line in the post.
It clearly states the intent of the question.

-e- Never mind, I'll assume you meant what Faktor said.
I don't know whether adrenaline makes meat taste sweeter, but I'm skeptical for a few reasons. First, I think it's known that animals raised under stress taste worse than animals that aren't. Think of Kobe beef (Kobe beef isn't a controlled experiment so this isn't a great example). But, on the other hand, this could be a nonspecific effect of better health of the animal overall.
Second, I doubt that whatever "pain-juices" you squeeze out of an animal by torturing it would have much effect on flavor over and above the stress the animal already experiences in the slaughterhouse. The animal is already very physiologicaly aroused; I don't think torturing it would change the chemical composition of its meat by much (unless you're eating the brain?...).
These are lay speculations and I don't really know the answer to your question.

I doubt the adrenaline would remain in the animal anyway, since all the blood is gone and the meat is cooked by the time it gets to your plate.
