I play as [OTF] DunNa or just DunNa depending on if people are "we need clan members, oh wait you don't have a tag join us :D"

I think the account name is TelKulas, not sure which is needed since I have yet to try and figure out how the friend system works :P

Oh and go for the sprint unlocks first, then assault or support. Those to classes get the big points (and thus quicker ranks, which means quicker unlocks). Oh and the active camo sucks for "I r ninja lawl" sorts of things. Its for keeping away from people and sneaking to a back base or command objectives.

Well, since it's all unlock weekend, I've been using reconw ith cloak and lambert. I think in the 3 rounds I've played I've netted about 12 tags. I love it. Just go around back of their base and flank the campers and shank their asses. :D

It works as long as there isn't an ungodly amount of vehicle campers with an indeterminable front of the battle. Jihad cars no longer work? They didn't for me :(

I broke my own negative score record last night... -96 teamwork and point score. Normally I never would do something as evil as last night but this clan "MiA" to be exact, were complete douche bags and hogging the choppers, so me and my friend went on a TK spree involving a defib, RDX packs, a lambert, and a knife.

It was the MiA server, and after all was said and done I discovered their admin had crashed so I continue my relentless assault upon everyone within view. Best kill of the night involved grinding one of the MiA members against a wall with the jeep.

That was the first and last time I will do that in this game, but goddamn it was worth it.

Jihad cars no longer work? They didn't for me :(

You have to get out of the car and manually detonate the RDX. If the car gets blown up by ramming into something or being shot, the RDX does not go off like it used to. It's okay though, because BF2142's transport class vehicles all have turbos now, so it makes bailing out and having the momentum carry the vehicle forward that much easier. Handling sucks compared to BF2's FAVs and DPVs though, I've noticed that.

Jihad-mobiles are fun. I particularly enjoy taking out walkers with them, something about taking down two guys in what is supposed to be the new king of the battlefield using a car with explosives stuck on it makes me giggle.

Actually EA does handle the bannings and the stat system, DICE simply made the game and work on expanding content.

Actually, EA does the quality control and tells DICE what to do. I know, I was in the original betas for BF2 and all the expansions. In all the playtests, the DICE guys would say something and the EA guys would be like SHUT THE FUCK UP, ITS OK. and then one of the CT guys (us, combattesting) would speak up, and then get banned by EA.

Jihading was alot of fun in BF2:SF with the little ATVs, the bigger vehicles just weren't fast enough or maneuverable enough to be effective.

I thought so too, but I guess I'm just a big consumer whore because the unlocks and new awards system has sucked me in.

I wish they hadn't resorted to making up ranks like they did though, makes me go    every time I see something like Chief Petty Officer being in the same hierarchy as Sergeant Major of the Army. It's a nitpicky thing, I know, but to me it's as irritating as the USMC spec ops guys running around wearing woodland camouflage hats and vests and the commander yelling "Fight harder, soldiers!"

Well whos to say that in 130ish years the general military rank structure will be altered and possibly even uniformed across all branchs (gasp!), taking ranks from all the current branchs as they felt like it.

That does make sense in a way; if they're going to do something as weird as make bipedal vehicles and floating supply/fire bases, I guess they might as well go all the way.

Over vent my passengers in my FAV are always shitting their pants when I drive into an orbital strike. I shrug to myself and speedboost through it, the most damage ever done is about 10 points, otherwise we go through unscathed and then I manage to get a Wheels of Hazard pin. :)

I tried the demo of 2142 last night. For some reason it doesn't seem such a system hog as BF2. I didn't get to play much but it looks like fun, I hated the tanks though as I like the machine guns on alternate fire that you get in BF2. I died a fair bit trying to blast infantry with a big gun only to get splatted by a mech. Didn't like the controls on the hover tank either.

Hovertank is satanic. Unless you have someone really good, with a gunner, in a mech, there's no reason a hovertank shouldnt cornhole the mech. Mobility + zoom = win.

Jihadmobiles are the answer. 5 packs of C4 in the legs ruins even the best walker pilot's day.

I'm surprised you guys like the hover tank, I loathe that thing. It's like the designers got together and said "Hey, you know what'd be cool? Tanks that don't even have a turret. It'll be super cool, like those tanks from WWI."

I also don't like how they got rid of coaxial MGs for the tanks. I understand that they're trying to balance the game, but isn't the addition of a one-shot kill weak point on tanks, EMP mines, motion mines, and the Pilum enough?

DunNa

Gros replace your idea of bf2 tank with a walker and everything is dandy, you have something that can take the hits and blow shit up.

2142 tanks are not really compairable to bf2 tanks in there roles and how they should be driven/used. Think of 2142 tanks as basicly a sniper for armor or player controlled artillery of sorts. I mean you have an insanely accurate, long range, and really powerful gun along with a platform to actually let you stand around for abit to take the shots.

When I'm in a tank in 2142 I never really worry about emp mines, pilums, or motion mines. Driving up to silos/flags is for walkers and apcs. Once you realise that 2142 tanks are not ment to be solo domination, and you understand there roles they are actually alot better.

Personnally I prefer the standard tank to the hover tank simply because it isn't as effected by the cannon recoil (getting your tank flung backwards after each shot does not make me a happy panda). Though the hover tank is much better for tank vs tank stuff since it can strafe like a little crack fiend CS player.

Actually the direction they took with vehciles in 2142 is COMPLETELY FUCKING AWESOME! Instead of having them be the focal point of the game where its get in a tank/jet or die its not get in a squad and work together or die which is how it should be. How realisitic (or lack there of) isn't my concern I'm looking for a good fun "balanced" game and they did it.

I'll keep that in mind. I think I'm just too used to how I used to armor whore in BF2 and I'm having a hard time adapting. But basically I should use it more like a fire support platform?

I agree that BF2142 is much better in terms of not having horribly overpowered vehicles though, despite my love for tanks. The jets from BF2 come to mind as the prime example of how not to implement vehicles.

I don't hate the game but I do hate EAs business practices. They release expansion packs that are basically 3 maps and some weapons, they don't fix long standing bugs but they DO "fix" gameplay issues that never needed fixing in the first place (droppable hummers anyone?). Finally, whenever they make a new game in a franchise they pretty much dump any work they were doing on the previous game even if it still has a large fanbase.

The sekrat to titan mode point whoring? Pop the enemy titan ground attack guns. Do this until you get 2 pins from it (you wouln't be able to get more its capped), each of those pins are worth 20 points, and you get like one point for popping the turret.

Oh and never assault the enemy titan, its just a death trap and more often than not, not worth it. Maybe try it once at a random time as recon with RDX to see how well guarded it is, if you can pop a console or two keep pushing it.

well, now that I've learned what to not do in a walker, I regularly get 3:1 or better kill death ratios. as long as their aren't mines around you just rambo the fucker. Get in close to tanks and they're as good as dead. Mines are sucha pain, especially when someoen camps and tehn throws mines at you while you walk near them. I fought off a team of anti-armor happy bitches camping one of our home base flags in a walker. Needless to say I still went 43 and 12.

Alright, am I missing something here? I've been running around in tanks recently and I keep getting raped. It's usually against an opponent in a nekomata. I swear, I've been killed in two shots, adn that's not against any rear armor, they're nearly straight ahead and I take like, 50 damage. wtf. They also have a ansty habit of appearing behind me and taking me out in one hit, I don't know where the hell they are coming from since there's little room to get behind me, especially with all of our flags behind me, so they aren't spawning back there. Man this is frustrating, I feel like they're cheating, since it takes me 4-5 hits to kill them, and I'm aiming for the sides and tracks...
