Looking at the gameplay demos, I'm not looking forward to it that much. After playing games like Ground Control and the like, I cant stand building individual infantry, I prefer squads. And it all looks waaay close ranged, and zoomed way too much in in the movies.

according to the PA forums the demo's out for everyone on EA's website, but its down atm. Game includes 1 campaign mission(GDI) and skirmish. I did the campaign mission and it was cool. Old fashioned Cnc. Live actors (and hot asian chick) ftw! Game ran really smooth but I'm not sure what it defaulted my settings to. I'll post more later.

-e- my graphics defaulted to medium, I'm going to try higher and see if my computer doesnt blow up

Besides this game is a call back to good C&C (everything past Tiberium Sun made me cry) which is making me salivate, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park are live actors in this, which is reason alone to buy it :P

Also, I don't mind infantry in C&C because they're actually useful. I remember playing games of RA with just infantry and sending billions of riflemen to their doom. Also a small grenadiers could destroy buildings way faster than most of the tanks in the game.

i pretty much beat the one campaign mission with just 3 mamoth tanks. Took out an entire base with them, rather ridiculous.

But yeah infantry are useful and a pain in the ass on the city skirmish map. I ended up leveling most of the buildings with my bombers

If there was ever a justification for spending large sums of money on actors for a game, this is it.

I used to play tech level 3 or 4 games in RA with a friend where we could only use infantry, rangers, and APCs. So much fun.

So after playing the entire demo, I'm a bit..underwhelmed. Yes, it delivers the classic C&C game play I used to love, but Supreme Commander has spoiled me. Every other RTS feels like crap now after playing that game.

Playing as Nod is fun. Go into the Skirmish area and select "Nod" but don't click it, then press "N" and click it at the same time and you can play as Nod. Doesn't work for Scrin afaik.

Unfortunately GameData.dat crashes all the time for me so I can't really play the demo now :/

its S for Scrin and G for GDI but unfortunately for the Scrin it doesnt look like they included any data or models or anything of them so you instantly win after about 10 seconds since there's no enemy

i fucking love NOD, army of paragliders FTW! And all the special abilities just rule. Making tiberium spawn infront of their barracks? Hell yea. Using the missle that has a greater effect on when tiberium is in the area, even better!

I got to play some last night, before it crashed anyway. Definitely awesome. Sucks my shitbox compy can only JUST barely handle it (everythings on minimum, and it still stutters time to time >.<).

I like the return of the old sidebar, though without making it too obtrusive.

Free pillboxes for GDI infantry is awesome too, though it sucks that it seems you cant sell them.

Though in the openning movie, I wanted to call out 'SHES A CYLON, AND HES GOT A SNAKE IN HIS HEAD!' x)

After playing an extensive skirmish, I must say...

Do NOT mess with Medium Balanced computer. He will fuck you up. He will pull out every trick in the Nod handbook to see your base decimated. Whether it be multiple nukings, tiberium explosions, mass of suicide bombers (that penetrate any defense...ever.) and stealth tanks out the wazooo.

Having said that, there are some definite balances that are needed. The GDI need a serious boost in the special abilities department, because as of now, the Nod explosion not only takes out harvesters, but multiple refineries at the same time. Throw their nuke on top of that, and you get some serious base flattening.

The GDI's ion cannon is good, but that's all they got going for them. Their Orca bombing sucks, and the drop pods and other transports can be shot down even before they're half way to the drop point. The artillery strike feels powerful, but inflects minimal damage when compared to some of the stuff Nod is pulling out.

And the Avatar/Beam Cannon's tendacy to sit JUST outside of turret defense's ranges and zap away at them is really annoying and should be smacked

I'll be getting this game eventually, I loved the FMV from the C&C series and was let down when Generals didn't have them. The gameplay is pretty meh, not much new going on, although I'm betting the aliens will be interesting to play.

Play as Nod against GDI. Nod is just.... nasty. And you can also change the cpu's play style the same way you select Nod. Turtleing GDI is the epitome of a base whore.

I don't know, the computers were pretty easy. Mammoth Tanks and Avatars just clobber everything. I purposely wiped out all the buildings in the skirmish map, just because I could and the computer didn't really do anything while I wasting time.

You find massive, uncontrollable tank spam to be one of the best RTS so far? Singleplayer campaign was great, but multiplayer made me want to eat a bullet.
