View Full Version : I got gross language for this?!?!

"wow, that'd be funny to have a hold on your transcript because you never paid the fine for jerking in the shower."
and/or
"easy to clean up, excluding drain related issues"
What the hell? Seriously, this is not gross at all. This is only considered gross language if you've been locked in your house watching Seseme Street for your entire life, but come on. Any normal person would not consider this gross language. This is stupid.

you said: Why not edit the post with the reason for the "deletion" instead? If you have a way to lock a post from further editing, that's the end of it; if not, and the poster edits his post to restore the original content (or write something else against the rules), then you can delete the post, but at least the poster would know what rule he broke in the first place.

One would imagine their problem with it is it's potty humor. However, potty humor hasn't really been moderated from what I've seen. It could also possibly be sex in "bad taste," but the implication above was that it was for something gross. The mixture of either of these reasons with the fact the post was aimed at someone's mother (Or I assume so, I didn't see the context) was what got their goat, I'd wager.

So, this is not a case, as far as I know, of letting something slide, its that we never saw it. Hey, it'd be nice to spread the flames around a bit.
It's likely going to happen.
As for whoever was asking about going out on a limb, you have two options. You can a) ask a mod/admin first if it's ok, and then post somewhere in the thread "I asked, SWAT/whoever said it's ok". Or, you can b) use common sense and don't post things that are clearly inappropriate. Put it like this: If I can tell by your post that you weren't purposefully violating the rules, or that you thought it was acceptable and I can reasonablly see how you came to that conclusion, I'm definitely not going to temp-ban you, and I probably won't even issue an infraction, just delete the post and PM you or something (or I'll issue a 0 point infraction because it's faster and simpler for me than PMing). However, if you do something purely for the sake of being inappropriate, I'm not going to give much leeway.

Yeah, technically you got strikes, but it really doesn't do anything since I don't think it bans you at 10 points anymore. Just think of the warning as an automated private message that what you posted wasn't appropriate, and just don't do it again in the future.

I doubt it. It's become quite obvious that he's content to simply complain that the rules are crap, the admins won't provide clear specs on each on etc. etc. There was a post about changing the rules perhaps, rules that haven't even existed for a whole month. It's bloody ridiculous guys, none of you is twelve and incapable of judging what appropriate and innapropriate language is, and even if you aren't capabale of that it's just a warning. You're all making an enormous fuss because you're getting the equivalent of having your cookies taken away because you threw them on the floor.
