What are my options? They must be free and not crappy. :)

Fedora Core, Ubuntu, ReactOS (not sure of quality), Gentoo, LFS (LOL), Slackware, and SuSE should just about round out that list.

I wish I knew someone who actually used ReactOS... I'd love to use it.

Debian's pretty sweet and can play all your games. :p My other call is for Ubuntu.

If you want to play games written for Windows, you have a few options. By far the best is to run them using Windows. If you must emulate then you could use a proprietary bit of software called Cedega. Older games might run under DosEMU, LucasArts games run under ScummVM. Most linux games will run on any distribution.
Different flavours of linux are pretty much the same under the hood, with the same software available (in theory) for all of them.
Debian (named after the 2 leads, Deborah and Ian) is pretty solid, and runs on almost anything from Dreamcasts to lawnmowers. Ubuntu is a bit "brown" for my tastes but has a neat package manager. Slackware was my first true love, but it's not as polished as some. I am running SuSE myself simply bcause it happens to run painlessly on my 64 bit laptop.
Whichever one you get you'll have a similar experience, there isn't a great variation between distros tbh - the main differences are package management and look&feel.
Whn you come to choose window manager I always choose KDE over gnome as the look suits me better.
