Good for you!

I bought BF2 when it came out, and I think I played once. I never laid hands on it ever since.

there's a pretty good "army" of us on ARFcom that play it pretty regularly.

Get on x-fire some night, find the Team Speak we are using that night and we'll run around like a bunch of angry mutant irish/norse halfbreeds while on a mad rampage.

When there's 10-12 of us in Team Speak or working collectively on 1 team it pretty much fucks over any server we goto.

This intrigues me. How often do you guys do this? A friend and I have been looking for something like this for a while.

Most evenings there are 3-5 people online that reguarly play. Weekends the number will hop up to around 6-8 with fair regularity. But on occasion we get 8-12 people all working together to do whatever we like within the map.

Sometimes it's stealing the enemy equipment, other times it's taking flags, or sometimes it's simply to be a pain in the ass of the enemy.

Need a carbomber by any chance? There's something about flanking and breaking an armor rush that makes me never get bored of doing that.

Completely with you being a pain in the ass; sometimes I'll steal the enemy choppers and park them on tall buildings far away from everything just to deprive them of it until it gets blown up by the game timer, or when someone actually bothers to do it themselves.

What's your XFire name uglygun? I'll try to add you ASAP so my friend and I can get in on this.

I'd say make the transition to BF2142, but if you really want to play BF2 then just buy vanilla. Get someone you know with Special Forces to play on your account for a bit and you'll get all the SF unlocks too.

One thing I've found while playing Project Reality that I've never experienced in any other game is the fear of American air power that game puts into you if you're playing as an Insurgent. After about an hour of playing Al Basrah, I was conditioned into sprinting to any available cover and diving into prone whenever I heard the whine of A-10 engines in the distance or any rotor noise for fear it might be a Supercobra.

To accurately simulate what this is like, get a friend to sit behind you and scream "AMERICAAAAAAAAA" at random intervals. They should also punch you in the arm in conjunction for full effect, also using random timing.

For a second I couldn't figure out what you were talking about, then I figured out by A-10 you meant the warthogs. Yeah, I was playing and those things will scare the shit out of you. This tornado volume whiiiiiine sound then bam, everything around you is a pile of dust, including yoursef. It's such a deathrap trying to fly in that game though. :\ At least for me.

The one time I played we were all trying to hold the middle flag, I thinks its called like Industry or Facility, and they kept hitting us with aircraft constantly. We had so many RPG guys, and when the cobras and blackhawks showed up it was almost like a shotgun blast of rockets. We took one or two done, I think I might've downed a cobra with a PKM. And yeah the A-10 is by far the scariest fucking thing on that level.

Hrm, sounds like I may need to reinstall BF2 and go whip out my HOTAS joystick.
