I've been trying to figure out why my idle is like 1200rpm higher than it should be while the engine is cold, but no luck yet. Tried replacing my TPS already (testing the old one would've been too much work, a new one is like $10), didn't help. It's pretty much the same symptoms as a vacuum leak (high idle, hesitation/misfiring) but it only happens while the engine is cold (can't remember if that's open or closed loop). Once in a while (rarely) I'll get a code 44 (lean exhaust) but it's only happened once since I replaced my O2 sensor. Oh ya, I also get lots of smoke out the exhaust pipe, it's the same color as plain old condensation exhaust, but it hangs in the air like burnt-oil exhaust would, so I don't really know what that is. There's no signs of coolant in the oil or vice versa, and it runs fine and the smoke goes away once it's warmed up. I managed to find one other problem with similar symptoms on google, it turned out the guy's intake manifold gasket wasn't sealing properly when it was cold, but when the engine warmed up and the parts expanded they sealed the leak, so he replaced his gasket and all was well
someone fix my car plz

my truck did the same.... i just revved her up to like 3500 real quick and let go, and it went back to normal idle.

Muffler bearings is their correct name you idiot.
Did you change it over to summer headlight fluid yet also?
Umm to be honest, could be a gasket leak while cold, minor weeps would do this.

If your car has one, check the Idle Air Control valve.

Doesn't work, already tried it.

On my list of things I'm too lazy to check so I'm just gonna buy a new one and see what happens, haven't seen any on ebay yet and I'm not paying $100 for one D:

Well I'll find out when I replace the gasket I guess...maybe I'll make CSJ help me do it this weekend.

I would have suggested IAC if the exhaust didn't hang. :p But it's possible I suppose to be IAC. They ain't cheap though, which does suck.
