Well i want to get a car over the next 2 months. but, im stuck for choices. and, for my age group, insurance is rediculous on anything over 1.6l. so, im asking:
1) best vehicles in the 1.6l category?
2) cant cost more than £1200 - £1500.
3) hasnt been modded or suped up in any way.
4) most reliable and worth my cash.
what should i get? i have 2 extremes in my mind, one is an estate (station wagon) for my bike riding and carting my mates and bikes around with. OR, i just get a small zippy hatchback. (like a citroen saxo or ford fiesta)
advice people. :O gogogo.

fiestas have surprisingly large amounts of leg space. But, being able to take your bike elsewhere (and more friends) is also a plus. I guess it'd have to depend how 'badass' the cars looked.

well yeah, tbh, i dont want something that screams "IM AN ECONOMY CAR AND SUCK ASS" like the bog standard 1.4l clio's look like, for example. I want something that looks good (without having to rice it up, maybe just a set of rims and a suspension drop) but also performs well.

I'd go with the estate, it's easy to make it look half-rad. :D

Just buy a mondeo, you may find that you get cheaper insurance on it than a smaller car, as less young people drive saloon cars.

Then why are you considering a fiesta
I don't really know what kind of offerings you have over there besides that absolutely ridiculous thing Mafi has. Does Subaru make anything that small? They make some really nice small-displacement cars but I've never heard of anything THAT small.

A station wagon would be more useful, however with that small of an engine it'll be fucking slow. I'd go with a hatchback.. Not a Fiesta though. Fiestas scream "I'm in a gay relationship and I'm the one that takes it up the ass" (no offense Otaku :lincoln: )

don't insult gays like that

Subaru used to offer an Impreza non turbo variant in 1.6 litre. Hard to come by, but they are awesome. despite the displacement, they are powerful and nippy, and economical.
and yeah, im aware a fiesta screams "economy" and "homosexual" but i just put it down as an example. :P

Toyota Corollas and Honda Civics would be a good option if you want something cheap to run, common and reliable
