Over at the Penny-Arcade forums there is a thread to tell about creepy stories that have happened either to the members of the forum or stories they've just heard, along with common folk lore or scary videos. Basically just talking about things that are of creepy nature.

To get things started there are too PA threads. The original (http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=5320) and the new one. (http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=10124) Both contain some pretty decently creepy stories and a lot of links to scary things (videos, pictures).

I was just wondering if anyone here has any stories about creepy things that have happened to themselves or to close friends or family?

I read that thread for a good half hour and scared the shit out of myself.

I now hesitate to go take a piss without my dog by my side.

In vein of that thread, the worst thing I've probably ever heard was a 9/11 recording
Fuck if I can remember what site it was from, but it was a 5 minute 911 distress call from someone trapped in their office on one of the top floors (97th?)
With the audio was a picture of the burning towers

The ending was something that will simply never leave me. He's talking about how he can see out the window, but he stops mid sentance, says 'oh god' then screams it before the phone cuts out. The video shows the tower beginning to collapse pretty much as he says it.
Something I really should never have listened to, but my curiosity got the best of me

I've also written some horror stories that I've read back to myself and I think "where the fuck did I come up with this?"

and do they ever posted the actual shed picture they keep talking about?
They post a couple wondering if it's 'the shed' but those pictures weren't creepy at all

Pretty lackluster if you ask me, but I'm horribly desenstized, and there's stuff like that all over where I live

I wouldn't mind getting a link to that 9/11 thing if you've got it?

Scariest thing thats ever happened to me.

I was beaten up by 4 guys, that wasn't really scary though because there was no build up.

Allegedly I have some dead relatives that are haunting their old house. I kinda wanna go over there and see if its true.

P.S. That 9/11 recording is pretty fucked up.

Its not really "creepy", but there was one time on the ambulance that a guy called us and then killed himself. We'll we were searching through this guys empty house and we were all going around saying "EMS, X ambualance, anyone around" and I kept thinking I was going to get blown away by some whack job hiding somewhere(didn't know the guy was suicidal). Then someone found a suicide note, so I run up cuz hes yelling that the guy killed himself and was outside. I look at the note over his shoulder, and its really strange to think I was reading someone's suicide note. I remember reading the sentance that generally said "I killed myself, you'll find me here". His house was very very clean

my own experiences:

i was around 10 at the time. i woke up in wee hours of the morning (aroun 3.30am) for whatever reason, i just woke up. anyway, this was at my grandparents house in South Africa, we were visiting, the whole family get together etc etc. My grandmothers house has a long passageway with doors that turn off on the right and left hand side, with a door right at the end of the passageway which is into my grandparents room. Well, i woke up, its dark in the house, and for some reason i kept wanting to look at the end of the passageway. i noticed something, and it came towards me. a lady. a white lady, i mean as in completely paper white came rushing towards me and i fell over backwards, paralysed with fear. i passed out, and ended up waking up where i had fallen over, the door still open infront of me. i know i was awake when the ghost lady thing rushed me, because i still got up and walked around the room looking for my flashlight, and nothing else was out of the ordinary, until that happened and i passed out.

this other time, i was in Majorca (islands off the coast of spain.) myself and a mate where missioning around the hotel area, and something caught our attention on a wall across the road. A large dog like creature was walking along the wall, it looked up at us, screeched and jumped up a tree, we ran like hell, it was probably around 10.30pm. It was a bright white animal, and somewhere between monkey and dog, with a hint of cat thrown in. apparently, after consulting with one of the locals, there is a legend of such a beast which roams around at night. when we first described it to this guy, he freaked out and then told us about the legend.

on another occasion, i was snowboarding with my class in austria. we were outside on the balcony overlooking the mountains and what not (it was night so we couldnt really see much) anyway we were discussing ghost stories and i had told them about the incident at my gran's place. 10 minutes later we all went and crashed out in the room. i woke up randomly, and looked directly (as in half a metre) ahead of me into the dark, and something was standing there, around a metre tall, i couldnt make out anything, as the room was super dark, but something was there. i tried waving my hands ahead of me at the thing and it just stepped back. i turned around to wake up my mate, and when i turned back, nothing was there.

i get chills and goosebumps everytime i recount those stories. there are other incidents im not willing to discuss right now. but thats the most freakiest for me.

Things can seem perfectly normal and still be a dream.

This is a dream but more freaky than the usual, I woke up and saw a shadow in my room at night stories.

Last year my brother joined the army, on a friday night he'd gone to bed early since they'd been hammered that day doing pack marches. That night he dreamt that my uncle came into the room, sat at the end of his bed and said "I'm proud of you mate, keep up the good work, every thing's going to be fine, I love you" and then up and walked out.

The thing is, my uncle has been dead for a few years now. When he told me the next day over the phone, my mum looked like she'd been crying, when I asked her what was up, she said, "today was your uncle's birthday" I just miss him.

I was like "GTFO MAN, GTFO"

Stuff like this scares the crap out of me :(. It's amazing how easy it is to get spooked, it's some kind of instinctive response I guess.

dude, it wasnt a dream, you can tell when something was or wasnt a dream. if it was a dream, i would have realised it in the morning. it was no dream.

besides, an old lady did die in the house several years before.

Actually, there are certain kind of dreams where you don't realise it was a dream, but you think it really happened. I've experienced at least one myself.

I'm sorry to say I don't remember the name for it, but someone here may know what I mean.

Lucid dreams are dreams that you know full well are dreams and are able to control. Towelie may be talking about hypnagogia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

Creepiest dream:

Happened when I was 14, sick as hell in bed. I tend to dream weird when I'm ill, but anyway...

I was lost in a house, a BIG house, it was built all crazy (ever hear of the winchester house? Like that) It was brod daylight, and from looking out the windows I could see that the house I was in was the only thing in the middle of a vast grassy plane. I was trying to find the door out, but couldn't (dunno why I couldn't just get out by a window). Anyway, after a long time exploreing, hearing odd noises, and things moving out of the corner of my eye, I found the door to the basement. I opened it, and got a ReAlLy BaD FeElInG. I said, out loud, "I don't want to go down there" and so I turned to go away.
Then, I was "picked up" sorta like someone does with magic/teleknesis, and I was being pulled down the stairs to the basement. Struggling to get free. Nothing to grab on to. Finally, from the darkness below, I see a pair of errie eyes open, and a pair of 3-"fingered" lobster/crab claws reach out for me.

That's when I woke up.

I'm surprised I didn't piss myself.

I've had a few classic dreams of the all-to-realistic-yet-completely-unreal sort. One in particular scared the hell out of me for years. I was about 8 or 9 and I had a dream where my living room was the same as it is in real life, but where my dining room should be (right off the living room) there was a coffin and some other shit that looked freaky. My mother was sitting in the living room watching TV and as she is watching TV I see the lid on the coffin open and this skeleton thing gets out (remember the old animaniacs cartoons where there was the skeleton who always lost his limbs and stuff? It looked like that skeleton) and I remember screaming, but my mom just told me to be quiet and kept watching TV. I remember when I couldn't back up any further, I just reached out and yanked on one of the skeleton's ribs, and then I woke up. It was a stupid dream but has stuck w/ me forever.

Also: Glock seemed to be much more susceptible to frightening things growing up. I can remember when we shared a room, sometimes late at night he would wake me up and tell me that he just saw something in the closet. I don't know about you guys, but other people waking me up to tell me they saw something is MUCH worse than actually seeing something yourself.

Also #2: There is this house in the town I'm from that is much older than most other houses around, and one can tell it has been around the block. Well this family just recently moved to town (5-8 years ago) and they have a little girl. The little girl always played with her imaginary friend "gordon" since moving to the house. Her parents always thought it was kinda weird how she just picked up the name gordon out of nowwhere (the girl was bout 4 or 5 at the time), and then soon she began to tell her parents about how gordon thinks the world has gone to shit and how he wishes the world would just end so he could give up and go home. (again this girl is 5 YEARS OLD). And then one day while stripping wall paper, they found the name GORDON scrawled across the wall in charcoal pencil. Only a select few people were told about this since the family didn't really want to publicly acknowledge their fear, but their neighbors were friends of mine. They have since researched the house and they did find that a boy named gordon once lived there with his family, and then I guess they found out some more stuff, but eventually just stopped researching and stopped acknowledging anything was weird about the house.

I used to be freaked out about weird stuff, like worrying that aliens were going to come and get me in my sleep and abduct me. I tended to stay up really late in my early years.

#1 A couple of months ago me and my dad wanted to find the property marker(we are putting up a fence) at the edge of the property. It was about 4:30 p.m. and it was still sunny out so we thought that we didn't need a flashlight. so we headed out with our dogs and start trying to find the property marker we it is located about in about a 1/2 acre of overgrown woods. By the time we get down there the sun is setting and I can only see about maybe 30-50 feet infront of me at this point.
Well I get to the marker at the corner of the property. I whisper to my dad I see somebody standing in the woods. Once I said that the dogs go wild and the next thing I see they are running back to the house leaving me and my dad in the woods with this guy/ghost. So my dad calls to the guy to see if he responds then guy/ghost turns slowly and steps back behind a tree and disappears. I went down to see if he was there and he was gone without a trace. The only way the guy/ghost coulda gotten out of the woods would have been walking by us. Because a stream runs at the lower part of the woods.

#2 Every since my grandfather died sometimes we are able to smell the same cherry tobacco he used to smoke in his pipe. while nobody in the house smokes pipes or anybody around us.

sometimes i have deja-vus and I can remember every little detail. i even know what the other persons are going to say or do, before i've even finished talking.

this is some really scary shit and from time to time I can even tell that things I've dreamed are going to happen sooner or later.
most of time time this are just casual discussions, but when i dream about car accidents, desasters or wars and I've got this "real" feeling afterwards it will scare the shit out of me. I really pray for these things never to come.

my mother also used to have similar experiences too; when I was a kid she could predict lots of things quite accurately and even now she's good at predicting people's actions.

the day i'll dream about lottery numbers has yet to come.
