So I'm majorly overdrawn. I was overdrawn over 600 dollars, so I worked two 50 hour weeks hoping to pull in enough money to pay rent. After taxes and paying all my other bills I'm still over a hundred dollars overdrawn. Rent is due on Cinco de Mayo. I already asked my parents for a $500 loan, which they begrudgingly accepted, but of course chewed me out about irresponsibilty and yadda yadda. But I'm still 200 bucks short on rent.
Not to mention the fact that since I'm overdrawn I cant even put gas in my car to get to and from work

I overdrew 20 dollars 4 times.
For each overdraw I get slapped with four $34 dollar fees. That's 136 dollars, times four, that's 634 overdrawn.
Ya, I'm probably going to stop banking with Wells Fargo once I get my account back to 0

Yeah seriously...the most I've ever been over is like $300 and that was after being out of a job for 8 months.
I don't think anything's ever bounced from my bank...even if I don't have enough money they'll still honor the check, so I'll get boned in fees but at least I don't lose any cred with stores

What the FUCK...why FOUR fees????

This is why arranged overdrafts own credit cards. Very low interest (i paid about a tenner on a £1000 overdraft).

Holy God. This is one thing I'm quite pissed about - banks dicking people over like that. Overdrafting is the fucking devil and shouldn't be allowed - but then again, if they did outlaw it, banks wouldn't turn a profit now, would they? amirite????
Fuckers.

Strangely enough banks in the UK love lending students money. It's seriously worth going to university with no intention of studying, just to get the easy banking.

Yeah, thats pretty gay, this one time i got slapped with $12 fee for not using the company's atm, that over drew me so I got hit with a $15 over drawn fee. Which is hella gay because it was fees that over drew me.
I'm good with money so its only happened once.

lol we got oops account on my checking, occasional overdraft protection service. It allows you to overdraw $800 and use it as an interest free loan, they just tack on a $25 service charge each time you do overdraw, so I took out like $250 at once, so i only got hit with the $25 once D:

I overdrew by about 200 once, but it was a balance transfer so the money just went back into the account minus the fee.

It seems like everyone I talk to in the UK and Canada has overdrafted some ridiculously huge amount, and the bank just goes "lol just pay it back sometime or something"

It depends how you manage them. If you go in looking like a drunk surfer, asking for £50 for food until your next paycheck, you get nada. If you turn up in an immaculate Hugo Boss suit asking for a few thousand for travelling and accomodation expenses while you install a Novell network for the Victoria and Albert Museum, Kensington, they'll probably give you the money without a shred of evidence or security - at least it works for me. It helps if you can use the right accent - imagine a sober version of Withnail.

You need to switch banks. I use US Bank and they are pretty much awesome. Free overdraft protection (gotta apply for it, though), free accounts (no monthly fee or minimum balance), internet banking, and internet bill pay (OH MY GOD IT IS AWESOME! You can send free checks anywhere. :D), and stuff.
luv dem.

If you don't write a lot of checks (ie. just rent and maybe some bills) you should ask everyone who you pay with checks if they'll take a straight bank transfer that you can direct deposit regularly, then get an orange checking account from ING Direct. No fees, free overdraft protection, and it earns 4%APR on any balance up to $50000, 5%APR on $50000-100000, and 5.3%APR on $100000+ :)
Of course it doesn't work very well if you can't get direct deposit or want to deposit a check, since they don't have branches. But that's why I kept my other checking account.

or get with the times and stop living in the stone age and just use a check card. I have never written a check in my life and never intend too, because they are pointless and there is no reason to unless your like 80 years old.

wow what the fuck do you think i'm doing asshole, i was just pointing out that i have a free interest-bearing account with no fees (they usually require a minimum balance of at least a couple grand and you have to pay maintenance fees if you go under)

It's a joke that a person on my vent server is an old man... he wanted to use a money order instead of paypal. We just found it funny.

I don't see why it's funny that he would want whoever he's sending the money to to not lose like 3% of it. You're a real jerk.

Wells Fargo fucking sucks PGHWPAHGPF UFCK WELLS FARGO
It's an expensive bank. Highest fees in the land, but they're top notch with their services. It's really too good for you and me.
My excuse is that my mom happened to be a Wells Fargo employee, so she forced it down my throat when I was 16 because there was an advantage for family members or something. Now I'm 21 and my mom's retired, so whatever it was is gone and it really isn't worth it. But I'm too lazy to switch out.
My mom did something for them that they gave her a checking account with a 5% yearly interest rate that has NO minimum deposit and can never be closed. I want one of those.

I get those with my bank, it's one of the standard employee benefits :p
I never opened one because like I said before, I already have my ING Direct electronic checking account that earns 4% on any shitty balance I'd ever have. Plus I've overdrafted it once already by accident and they didn't charge me any fees :)
