My DVD won't play Babylon five series discs I've borrowed. The zone is correct. It has played two in the package but sometimes refuses even them. Once they are 'playable' they are working perfectly, but unless they are it gives me a message that the disc isn't understandable for windows. The odd thing is that the dvd player does not malfunction on the discs I own. The borrowed discs does not appear to be any more scratched than others.

TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1612

Reads CDs and DVDs. No recording.
driver date 01.07.2001
driver version 5.1.2535.0

service pack 2
amd athlon 2000+
1,66ghz 256 meg ram

I'm also having trouble find an update to the driver on my DVD-ROM. There are drivers out there, but the messed up page doesn't seem to offer any clues as to which belongs to me. It says on the driver screen that the driver belongs to windows.. ..but windowsupdate shows nothing new or related that I have found.

Any ideas?

It seems that it is mostly an issue about reading the discs, rather than that the discs are unreadable or that the DVD rom is unable to read them.

Most of the discs have been read now, with a minimum of issues once the DVD rom is able to read them.

I've seen this application floating about for a while now. I've not use it nor do I condone buying it from non-legit sources but you might be able to snag a copy to see if this works to at least remove the movies from the DVDs.

BTW, I'm assuming is a copy protection scheme that hates anything PC based.

Go to the manufactuerer's webside, and search for the product.. usually they offer updated drivers.. but not always =(

I've tried some more dvds I own. I figure it must be some sort of reading malfunction. It doesn't give the right whooorrrssh sound that it should give.
