So I had some problems with Hl2 and steam. I tried to uninstall and it fux0red so I tried to manually uninstall individual files. Well, now I got like 3gb of hd space missing. I tried to run scandisc and checkdisk to recover the space, but to no avail. I know it's partly my fault for resorting to manual uninstal, but I would like my 3gb back without having to format. Any suggestions?

Get a program called Disk Space Inspector.

Use it on whatever drive it is, and it will search the pc for all files, and will allow you arrange everything by size. Look for large folders, and they will lead you to large files, so if theres something taking up space it will help you track it down.

I'm assuming that you deleted your Steam folder altogether, or something like that. You could try using CCleaner, I find that that helps me immensely with leftover files from uninstalls, but since yours messed up I'm not sure if it would work. You could also try defragging, and using Disk Cleanup, but those probably won't help much.

You could use an uninstaller program such as Ashampoo UnInstaller Suite (http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?session_langid=20&idstring=0103).

Install uninstaller suite then reinstall HL2 (monitor with uninstaller). While still monitoring the install run HL2 to make sure all files are expanded/on you’re PC. Close HL2 and complete the uninstaller monitoring process. Now uninstall using the Uninstaller suite, all HL2/Steam files will be gone!
