what happened?
It was actually attracting posts by people with differing opinions, therefore it was to fraught with tension and discord for the firebox...

did it get deleted by the original poster or by the mods? both options pose problems

I deleted it. The post was not intended for debate to begin with, it was posted in the OTF originally, until someone got uppity and decided to turn it into a legal issue.
I thought that the topic was not serving it's intended purpose, therefore as the owner of the thread I deleted it. If you want to debate about flags and the Constitution, I can think of three-four threads off the top of my head where we've been doing nothing but jumping around in circles with pitchforks shouting the same old song.

you were actively debating in it though? seems kind of silly to suddenly feel like you should delete, perhaps bow out of the debate, but not delete

Not really. I had already stated before I began debating that this was not the intent of the thread, and then when I put my two cents in, I got drowned out by those who like to flick their massive internet wangs about the place pretending they know better than everyone else.
StandingCow moved the thread due to the political/debating rail it jumped to, and I decided to see how it went, and it ended out coming to the same crossroads as many other similar threads did - to a dead end where we were doing nothing but chasing our tails.

You got upset and couldn't contain yourself?

No, you stuck your fucking head in to the thread, made a debating post and derailed it completely off the intended course it was designed to sail.
Heed my fucking advice, and keep your political and debating shit inside the Firebox.

Ok, lets not start arguing about the thread.
You got your answer, Shadow deleted it.

someone disagreed with you so you deleted the thread?
wow, that's mature. and as a consequence those of us who were actually discussing it (uglygun was making some good points for example) have lost it all

I'm probably going to make a new, more directed one since we obviously haven't come to a clear conclsion on it.

I'll tell you what's not mature? Making an argument in a thread that wasn't intended for it in a forum that isn't supposed to be argumentative.

It was PF's(I refuse to call you shadow:p) thread and thus his decision to delete it, 'nuff said as far as can be said in this forum.
