Hey I'm on a 11mbps wireless LAN and It's slow as hell. I'm transferring a 2gb file and it's not even halfway done yet there's still two and a half hours left on it. Is there any way I can reduce network latency and make this go a little faster? Thnx.

aye, 11mbps isn't really that fast. to put it in perspective, older lans are 100mbps, while new lans are 1000mbps.

well check you are actually running at 11Mbps, since it auto drops to 5.5, 2 or 1 if connectivity is bad
however, at 11Mbps i make 2GB a good half hour anyway, so if youre running at less than optimum it will take hours

11mbps is pretty slow, and wifi almost never runs optimally.
Upgrade to 108mbps xtremeg/superg :p

meh, 11Mbps is plenty fast enough for me, esp as our cable is 2Mbps (pointless having spare capacity when all its used for is internet)

Spare capacity is nice when you're trying to move five gigs of porn across your network to another computer. Hmm, an hour and a half to transfer it, or six minutes.
GG wires.

It also depends on the amount of RAM and the write speed of the recieving computer.
