This is probably more of a software question. How do i find out which AMD processors are compatible with my motherboard?

Using cpu-z i can find out what my motherboard is, but i would like to know what processors i could put in it.

My mobo is a NEC Computers International MS-6786

From what I see from a quick google this one question:

Is your computer a packard bell?

Yes. And yes the case is a stupid shape. I forgot to google, ill have a look now. Seems that it supports up to 3200, i have a 2800 in at the moment, i was just wondering as its only £60ish for a 3200cpu.

Look to see which CPU you have in it now, and you'll know.

Check the Packard Bell site, but my experience is those ****** are really picky about new parts and often are hard or impossible to upgrade.

Sorry Captain Colon, u have confused me.

Edit: Those posts all appeared at once but now i get the joke CC.

Ok i guess i'll leave that for the moment, just got a new Graphics card, so ill get some more ram for the moment, then wait a bit and upgrade the mobo and processor together.

If you know what type of CPU you have now, you can see what socket it has and therefor make an assumption on what it can handle.

This is true too...you're probably better off just saving up for a new case/board/cpu and transferring all the other parts into the new box.
