I've been shocking myself on my mouse today, a lot. Big shocks too. Anyway I just shocked myself on it a little while ago and now it seems to be totally unresponsive. The buttons don't work, scrolling doesn't work and moving does nothing. I've tried restarting and it's still not responding. I seriously doubt the drivers just fuxored themselvse, of course it's not exactly easy to check when all you have are the arrow keys to move about with. Any ideas? I don't want to buy a new one, this is a cheap GE laser mouse, but it still costs more money than I want to shell out.

i think you might be screwed. but if it is shocking you, that's not only bad for you, it's bad for the computer. i'd switch it out, easier replacing a 30 buck mouse than a 1000 buck computer.

if you are shocking yourself I doubt it has ANYTHING to do with software.
The mouse is dead.

Yeah, I agree, it's most likely the mouse, unless someone's been able to invent a virus that sends commands to the mouse to short-circuit on you :p.
Replace the mouse first, then find a POS computer that you don't value, plug the old mouse into that, and if that doesn't work (edit: if the mouse doesn't relay commands to the POS comp and you're still getting shocked), then you've found your problem.

Got a Logitech mx310 to replace it, let's see how good it is.

Hah. You and your shitty mouse. I have a mouse that, after much Intraweb searching, doesn't appear to exist. It's made by IBM, has an 800DPI optical eye, a 600DPI optical scroll button that lights up blue, programmable thumb button, and comes in a sexy-sleek metallic black with matte black grips.
It's also right handed. It's amazing.

Sounds exactly like the mouse I had.

I had problems with it. It'd constantly die on me. Not just stop responding, but actually TURN OFF. I'd end up having to plug it in over and over to get it to work again. Apparently, they were defective according to a customer service rep. I would've sent it in, but I couldn't obtain proof of purchase since the local store wiped the sales record. It was a nice mouse.
