Ok so the past like 3 games ive tried to install have just frozen on the 2nd disk during installation. Ill put the disk in then the disk will spin for a few seconds then just stop, then the light on my disk drive will blink. This has happened with Quake 4, Call of duty 2, and Black and White 2. It always happens with the 2nd disk.
so wtf is it and how do i fix it?

Is it your only drive? Assuming it is, there might be something wrong with the reader, it's likely not a software problem (unless you have outdated drivers or something, so get the most recent ones to be sure). Assuming that your discs haven't been scratched, maybe you could consider grabbing a cheap-ass replacement, try plugging it in and installing from that, and if that doesn't work either, then the problem's probably either the discs or the software.

Yeah, please don't bump threads when it's only been an hour, I'm sure that everyone can see the thread just fine.
Anyways, what I meant are updates for your software, ie Windows, and whatever burning program you're using. But I'd still recommend grabbing a cheap-o drive and trying that out, if it still fucks up on you then it's probably the computer and not the drive.

Oops, didn't see the AM/PM difference there, sorry :D.
Anyways, I'm not the guy to go to for this, since I don't know what CD drive you have, or any sites that offer any drivers. Maybe you could go to the manufacturer's site and look up their support/download section, that's usually good for something.

Pfft, I doubt drivers will fix this.
CD drives generally wear out after a few years use. The lens gets dirty, the drive motor wears out, etc etc. They're not designed to last. Try the driver anyway (you might get lucky) but most CD drives made in the past 5 years all use the same ATAPI specification, so they all talk the same way. Usually when it stops working correctly, it's just worn out. Again, these devices are cheaply made, and not designed to last.
Just buy a new one, they're cheap enough. (After you've tried the drivers, I guess.) A good dvd reader goes for around 25 bucks canadian, here.
E: Evil_S, most of those drivers on that page are either DOS real-mode drivers or Windows 9x drivers, I doubt those will be useful. Again, they're relying on Windows' ATAPI driver to support their hardware.

agreed.
buy a new one. This isn't a software error , it is just hardware failing.
The older the player gets the move sensitive it becomes to reading CD's.
