Did anyone else pick it up?
I rented it last week. It's actually not that bad, as long as you don't take it very seriously. The game can be pretty fun and the story, while not very original, is done well.
Is it worth $50? If you play the multiplayer, maybe. I'd stick with renting it.

My room mate bought it and play over 30 hours worth before finishing it. Also his character had a purple tophat, purple double breasted suit, purple bow tie, with purple loafers, and his gang comprised of purple swat officers and guys in black suits with purple neck ties. He looked more like a super villain than a gang leader.

I thought you needed to approach this game as you would say, crackdown

not as in depth version of gta4 and that's why I want it :(

in a way it is more in depth than GTA4 because of all the customization and activities, but its certainly not as serious.

Yeah, you get to go on "Fuzz" which is a mock of cops, and run around chainsawing hippies. Or put down "Prostitute Uprisings".
