The Brainy gamers try an experiment with his class of Fallout Virgins.

I'm not suprised they had initial difficulty. Every game these days has a tutorial or intro level that pretty much explains everything you need to know to play the game. I'm a victim of this cushy regime. I installed Sam and Max for the first time ever a few months back, and I had a nightmare getting to grips with it. Until I read the fucking manual.

I guess it's just a different era of game design. I'm not suprised that once they worked out how to play Fallout, they really started enjoying it. I'd challenge anyone with even the most meagre of interest in computer games not to. It's just somewhat ominous that these people who apparently are most familiar with the more recent style of games, having looked at Fallout 1 and 2, are predicting such a bad outcome from Fallout 3.

I'll still buy it, simply because I owe for Fallout 2

I am buying it even if the game were called Super Rainbow Pony Wasteland and had nothing to do with the fallout series in name.

I'll "try" it first, buy it later if I like it.

But I slap my forehead when the guy said he couldn't get out of the cave or understand action points, I has like 8 when I first played the game and I didn't read the manuel, didn't have nearly as tough a time understanding it.

Huh? When I played Fallout for the first time, it was pretty clear where the player had to go first. The first cave was nearly linear, and pretty obvious destination markers on the world map. The author ought to have designated how much gaming experience each commenter had, so the reader can tell if it's a noob making the dumb comments.

Anyways, the opening paragraph summed up why Fallout fanboys are so worried about Bethesda's makeover of Fallout.
