Yeah, I'm digging it. I'm just hoping I don't get RROD'd, I read where some inside Microsoft feel the new update might kill the first generation 360s, and since mine was bought on launch day I'm sorta, kinda, worried.
Have any of you guys tried the Netflix yet? I got it up and running and it was pretty awesome to be on my laptop, add a few movies to my instant que, then a few seconds later showing up on my Xbox, and only after a couple of minutes I was watching Kelly's Heros.
I'm happy with it.
Also, the Avatars are awesome.

Yeah I read where some of the new 360 SKUs still were not shipping with the new, cooler, GPU units. It was assumed that all the new SKUs had the cooler running GPUs, apparently not so much.
Rrod?
Red Ring of Death
Its a 360 Error, when the GPU/CPU overheats and it bricks the whole system. It's a real pain in the ass.

Oh, sorry, yeah I heard about that.

Also, I don't know if anyone here has seen this but Bungie came out and said that Halo 3 will actually work slower if you install it to your hard drive. It has something to do with map loading, in that installing Halo 3 on your hard drive forces Halo 3 to search the entire hard drive for the map files, thus taking longer times to load the levels and holding everyone up in match making.

I've had my 360 since May and It's only crashed like once, never RROD'd (knock on wood) because I keep it well ventilated and don't touch it when a disc is spinning. My sister and brother have a Wii at home that they haven't touched in months, and if they do only to play Wii Sports. I'll take my fun games if it means there's a small risk of a clusterfuck.

My box freezes occasionally, but other than that, nothing major. And it's like, at worst, once a week. And that's during a week of heavy playing.

I play Smash pretty often against housemates and my gf, lol D:. I agree with the game selection, though.

Too bad that won't give us the bigger harddrive, larger fans to keep it cool, and HDMI cables.

I am sensing a distinct amount of fail with regards to the game installation feature. What the fuck are they using, a 500rpm HDD? My loadtimes barely changed at all on ANY of the games I installed (including some that were released very recently, which would indicate they knew about this feature and undoubtedly programmed for it.)

I dunno it might be a placebo effect but I have seen load times reduced quite a bit, especially in Fallout 3. You can time it easily with the stupid slides. Before the update I had to sit through 3.2 slides or so, now only 2.

i found a big difference with rayman, previously an anmated load screen repeated twice, now it only plays once or less

i think that installing games really only helps reduce the noise, because the disc doesn't have to spin all the time.

This. I installed Left 4 Dead and my 360 went from sounding like a 747 on takeoff to almost silent. Not sure if load times are different, but god damn the lack of noise is a big plus.
