Ok so post what tricks you use to work faster at the PC. I'll start off so that you get an idea of what I mean.

Ctrl + C = Copy
Ctrl + V = Paste

Shift + RMouse or Shift + Left/Right Arrow = Select from..until
Ctrl + RMouse = Select objects
Ctrl + A = Select All.

Example for using: If you want to select everything in a folder , except a few elements , simply Ctrl+A then Ctrl+RMouse the ones you don't want .

Ctrl + Z = Undo. This is VERY helpful since it works on every software.

Alt + Tab = switch between programs

That's pretty much all I use . Post yours.

I use Tab to go quickly between boxes when entering logins and passwords, instead of mouse-clicking on the boxes and then typing. I also use Right-click + N to open links in new windows instead of moving the mouse to select the option, and I also use X to maximize windows (most of the time).

Actually, you just have to turn off overlays in WMP to be able to take screenies of videos, that's how I made my sig and avatar. Either that, or open it up in Windows Movie Maker and use the screenshot feature there.

windows key + d = minimize all windows

That's all i know that hasn't been mentioned. That windows explorer shortcut is pretty handy;thanks.

Oh, alt or control +print screen only takes a shot of the open application.

In the command line (win xp, dunno about the other versions) type help or type a command followed by /? to learn about the syntax.

ex:
c:\> netstat /?

this is all fairly basic stuff, but i suppose it would help someone who isnt very computer literate

continuing the theme, windows + pause goes to the system properties

set up 'send to' shortcuts for common folders, such as My Documents, helps for moving stuff around

alt gr + vowels makes common accents ie éá etc

alt + 4 numbers makes other special characters eg ♂ž┬

set up various 'open with' commands if you have several programs which use the same file, or even better set them up as different commands on the file (ie Open, Edit, Preview etc)

use batch files or open withs of command line versions of programs to speed common tasks (especially useful for modelling or programing)

use services.msc and msconfig to set up your computer properly

ensure complete control of everything your computer is doing and you will have infinitely less problems

an extremely simple step most people dont use is to auto-hide the taskbar, but make it several lines. this allows lots of windows to be available, but doesnt clutter the screen

cant think of any other simple steps right now

Only thing I didn't see with the windows binds:
Ctrl+Shift+ESC = Process List Manager
mx500 tricks:
mouse button 4 = minimize
mouse button 5 = minimize all
winamp binds:
Ctrl+Alt+End = play/pause
Ctrl+Alt+PageUp/Down = next/previous
Ctrl+Alt+Space = jump to song
Ctrl+Alt+numkey = rate

CTRL + PGUP and CTRL + PGDN - move to next/previous tab in a MS Excel workbook or Firefox

Oh and US keyboards don't have ALT GR, just two alt keys.

A few more for Excel

Shift + End + Arrowkey - selects contiguous data in either a single row or column
Ctrl + End + Arrowkey - selects contigusous data in a 2D block (like select all function)

with the new winamps (5.0 + iirc) you can program the global hotkeys to whatever you want. really helpful, especially if youre playign a game and have winamp playing music in the bg, but want to change the song... no more pausing then alt tabbing, just hit the key.

I used to have a Compaq keyboard that had keys built in that could stop, play, pause, and switch songs on WMP, I think I'll try WinAmp out then :)

We don't use accents on anything.

Only thing I do other than things like keystroke shortcuts for copy and paste is mouse gestures in Avant Browser. At first I thought they were pretty gimmicky, but I use them almost exclusively now.

nor do us britishers, unless we're quoting french or something, but we still have the key

anyway, what kind of fool leaves winamp playing during a game, eating resources and masking the game sounds?

In MS Excel:

End, Up Arrow (Go to the top of a column of continous data)
End, Down Arrow (Go to the botton of a column of continous data)

Also, hold Shift while doing the above to select said data.

Together with word it's one of the single most common used application in everyday businesses. Now I don't say that they use it as a spreadsheet because for some odd reason a lot of people seem to use it to type things out in a layout that requires a bit of thought in ms Word.

I use blackbox to work faster on my computer. I can write any shortcut key command I want to happen. For instance, window + f4 shuts my computer down, while window+f1 opens a console. Also by middle clicking a window, it closes it, and right clicking the window minimizes it.

While editing text:

Ctrl + any arrow key

Or is that too obvious?

I was told that heavier editing programs in windows may tend to backfire more often when you use short cut keys. The person who said this based it on observation that younger people sent his computers to crash more often than what older people did and made his hypothesis from there. So take this with apropriate grains of salts.
