Has anyone else had problems with lag? It takes like 30 seconds for any of my actions to register in-game and it takes like 5 minutes to open the damn market. My ping is fine, but I did a tracert to the server and got this:

WTB fix so I can actually play :( I dunno if it's my school connection not liking the route the packets take or what, but I never had this problem at home, and no other games lag this badly here.

well you got 100ms ping out of your ISP to the backbone (level3) which sucks bad in the first place. Then the CCP server you're connecting to is over in the UK which means a greater lag over the pond.

Not much you can really do about. You can try to reset your modem and see if you can get a different connection but I wouldn't bet on it.

Also are you wireless or wired in? I notice more lag when I'm playing with the router in the mix. If I direct connect to the modem I get better results. Also what are the details of your schools internet?

Um it's shitty, that's all I know.

It seems like the issue is packet loss more than ping, but it's hard to tell cause it's so crappy overall.

I don't think there's anything they can do...I'm probably just boned until I can get my own place. And then maybe still boned since it'd be the same ISP.

They won't do anything for me cause I'm not a paying customer...the problem doesn't seem to be local anyway.

Mirsky, the CCP server is in Iceland...the hop just before the one that times out is in the UK, so I'm blaming you brits for it.

The gameservers are not located in Iceland, IIRC

Game servers are in London. I *think* there's some CCP presence stateside, but I cant recall, and cant find it with werk internets filterz.

Oh weird, the site I used had the country listed as Iceland, which I figured made sense cause the first two numbers of the IP were way different than the UK ones. Maybe it was just cause CCP owns the server and their HQ is in Iceland :huh:

Man I wish the job market was better so I could move out :(
