I still think Madden 95 was the best of the series.

It's about time, anyone who'd heard his commentary over the last three years would agree he was well past it.

If he wasn't making sweet, sweet man love to Brett Favre he was using some made up phrase like "phooom" or for a guy like Adrian Peterson "He's playing about as well as any guy in the league"

That being said, it's sad to see a guy of his calibre both as a coach and a commentator (pre-senility) go.

I lubbed him for being the coach of my fav team and for being a good commentator but iam not sad or nething that hes leaving.

Never really a huge fan but you can't understate his impact on the game and its popularity. Probably could've/should've happened years ago as BlindSite mentioned but I think he earned his prolonged stay. Congrats on the retirement Madden, the NFL has certainly lost one of its better personalities.

I have a feeling that sports announcers are a big part of the reason I've never been terribly interested in televised sports.
