Welcome to the 40K mafia game. This is an 18 player, closed game. The rules follow below:

* Do not reveal any PMs from the mods directly. You can make role claims all you want, or talk about stuff, but DO NOT copy/pasta the communications from the mods.
* ZERO outside communication unless your role allows it.
* ALL communication is to be done in the thread, unless otherwise noted.
* This game will start on a night ZERO for investigative roles only. This is so anyone with a cop role can get 1 set of results out and actually have some basis for voting on round 1 rather than doing a joke vote. Once their results are in, we'll switch it over to day 1, and start from there.
* 50% + 1 vote are required to lynch. Whoever the +1 vote is, is called the hammer. There may or may not be roles or powers involving whoever the hammer is that day. Choose wisely, children of the Emperor.
* If you violate the rules, especially any restrictions of your role, you are subject to being modkilled and may or may not be replaced at the discretion of the game mods.
* PLEASE do not edit posts. It is perfectly OK to multipost in this thread; editing posts runs the risk that you may have gone back and changed a vote. You may or may not be modkilled for this deception. The foes of the Emperor must be fought head on, in the open!
* Try to stay in theme as much as possible. It's ok if you don't know much about Warhammer 40K, but for those of you who do, please help everyone out.
* Send night actions to the mods ASAP; you can even do it early during the day.
* Admitting openly to heresy, chaos, cowardice, or the like, invites the wrath of the Inquisition and/or the Commissariat on you. This goes along with being in theme -- if you openly roleclaim something evil, you'll probably be modkilled as the Space Marines or the Grey Knights or someone come down and rape your face for your heresy. I believe for the good of us all we should spare MeanPatrick until we can be sure of what riddles he speaks. Bloop zoned out. Something in the words something that he said. He had heard whispers of his name up and down the line it made sense. EVERYTHING MADE SENSE.

"ALL OF YOU!" He screamed leaping from MeanPatrick's foxhole. "I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE UP TO! IN THE EMPEROR'S NAME!" You speak of heresy using my name when I have been dedicated to only the emperor and Cadia!" The rest of the group began to surround him in a semi-circle. Bloop reached back down in the foxhole and grabbed MeanPatrick's lasgun. He slammed the buttstock into the ground and put the cannon under his chin.

"Ya gonna need this mate." Hodge said and threw the powerpack from MeanPatrick's rifle to the ground. There was a flurry of movement from the massed troops towards Bloop. Tato was there first. He knocked the lasgun away from bloop and pushed him into the foxhole.

"The red sheep are screaming." Patrick said to Hodge calmly as they both looked into his foxhole at bloop.
"How the 'ell did you get up here?" he said stunned
"Gas duster?" Patrick shrugged.

Bloop was crumpled at the bottom of the foxhole floating between conscious. He tried to stand but could not. That's when he saw it. It was left there for him by the emperor. In this moment. right now. He grabbed the object, and standing with all his faith in the emperor, he held it high above his head so that all could see.

"KRAK GRENADE!" Tato yelled and jumped back

"IM A MEDIC AND YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS!" Bloop twisted the charger and bearhugged the Krak Grenade. the implosion liquefied his body and showered the squad with gore. His head flew out of the pink mist and landed, mouth gasping for air like a fish out of water.

Patrick leaned down and started to perform CPR on the lifeless head. He pulled a pack from the ground and placed a small bandage on a cut on his temple.
"All Fixed Cat." he said and jumped back into the foxhole.

"Who's medic bag is that?" Tato asked wiping gore from his face.
Patrick's finger pointed from over the berm and at bloop's head.

"Cat's."

Bloop, This is a big game and will take a long time to play. Some can choose to not talk or even vote in the lynchings just to see who votes and why. If you look back to the first game Captain Colon was the first to open his mouth and he was crucified so it's all about the tactics of the game.

If SWAT and I feel that it's taking too long then we will impose a deadline. There has been a lot of forward movement to not warrant something like a deadline yet.

As of now there are 14 people that have voted out of 22 still left alive.

In case anyone didn't realize, with 22 remaining players, 12 votes still are required for a lynch.

Also as far as deadlines and taking too long go, many big forum mafia games of this number or even smaller can take a week or 10 days plus to go through the first couple of days. They're meant to be slow and longer running -- with that many players there are more potential roles and more tactical options to consider. The fact that we are doing this on forums instead of on IRC, is part of the reason for that, to stimulate analysis of people's voting patterns, and the like.

We had a night 0 with no kills for that reason, so investigative roles could come up with their results. Nobody likes a "joke-kill round", where a lynch happens with literally no evidence unless someone roleclaims (and since there's no evidence, roleclaims have a high tendency to be fake here). So with an investigation night out of the way, it's a little more reasonable.

Though I'm a bit surprised that there's been a relative lack of roleclaiming, not just in this game but in other games. There's a tactical element to roleclaiming early. In this game so far the only person I've seen roleclaim has been kind-of Meanpatrick (I'm referring only to his OOC statement about voting, so don't read anything more into that).

"Lynch All Liars" is still a good concept. Also I'm quite suspicious of people covering each other without good explanation, there's four reasons I can think of right now:

A) They communicated outside of the game and are stupid enough to trust each other. (I don't think so)

B) They are both cops and investigated each other. The chances for this are about. (1:250000, if i didnt miscalculate at some point, so thats not quite likely).

C) They are Pro-Town roles, who know each other and don't want to role claim (If that is true indeed, then mafia knows it, because they know their members - so this would be kind of pointless)

D) They are mafia.

bear in mind that most of us have only played 0-2 previous games, and even amongst those there were plenty who got killed early or otherwise don't really know what to do. high tactics don't exist amongst beginners.

If there are 4 cops, it's about 7%, by my calculations (which are quite possibly wrong, but certainly closer to the truth than your 4 in a million). However, if we're talking about pope+hodge, there's a THIRD person in there, and since cops only get one investigation per night there's no way they could each have checked out two other people. So the chances of THREE cops investigating each other are 0%.

To me, voting redgun seems to be the least well thought out of any of those. I am NOT working with redgun, I have no reason to think he's any more innocent than anyone else, but of the four options above, redgun seems to be the least sensible. I just don't want to see us wasting a vote.

I saw evidence in Trooper Patrick's ramblings the the "red" references were not toward a player, but as a clue to the Chaos forces that be in this sector worshiping the Blood God Khorne.


Trooper Cloneboy demonstrated that he has some sort of gift or ability, but did not claim a role as being in the Cult of the Machine or a Tech-Priest initiate or something of that sort, so until he either claims a loyalist role or can otherwise demonstrate that he is not Chaos, then my vote for him stands. If he is lynched, then it will demonstrate what kind of investigative powers Trooper Patrick has and who he is revealing - Chaos or Loyalist/"purr".
