Had mine yesterday. Round 14 of the AFL, St Kilda (my team) and Geelong both undefeated for the year (first time it's happened this late in the season). Sold out crowd (54,000 odd), been building up to it for weeks. Bloody close game, St Kilda got off to a 5 goal lead pretty early, Geelong keep in the contest though. Got down to 3 points in the third quarter before we got it out to 23, Geelong came back and got scores even with a couple of minutes left. Marked infront of the goals with 1:20 to go, kicked a goal and held on til the end to win by 6 points. The roar was deafening, my throat hurt a fair bit too.
Great game to watch, the crowd was bloody loud and thank fuck it's over and we got the points for it.
Video for anyone who cares (St Kilda are red, white and black, Geelong are blue and white);

Hmmmm..... best sporting event?
Probably a Texas vs. Texas A&M Football game or a Texas vs. Notre Dame Football game.... Texas A&M vs. Penn State was good too, so was San Antonio Spurs vs. L.A. Lakers.
I went to some motocross events when I was younger, been to TONS of drag racing events.....

Penn State 17
Ohio State 10
Awesome game, awesome atmosphere, and just unforgettable. Tribute videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjJ86bKIUA8) for the win.
In front of a student White Out,[24] Penn State defeated the Buckeyes 17-10 in front of 109,839 fans, at the time the second-largest Beaver Stadium crowd (this record was later broken in 2006). Michael Robinson threw for 78 yards and carried the ball 14 times for 52 yards and a touchdown. Calvin Lowry intercepted Ohio State QB Troy Smith and returned the ball to the 2-yard line, setting up Robinson's touchdown.
On Ohio State's final chance to score a game-tying touchdown, Tamba Hali sacked Smith, forcing a fumble recovered by Scott Paxson and allowing the Nittany Lions to run out the clock. Led by Paul Posluszny who had 14 tackles and a sack in the game, the Penn State defense held the Buckeyes to only 230 total yards.[25]
Posluszny was named the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the first time that a Big Ten player has been named in three consecutive weeks.[26] The team was named the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America.[27]
The game was ESPN's second largest audience for a regular season college football game. That morning's ESPN's College Gameday, which broadcast from University Park for the first time since 1999, was the most-viewed edition of that program in its history.

2004 NFC Championship, Falcons @ Eagles
Probably the coldest I've ever been (somewhere in the teens + 20 mph wind), but awesome atmosphere and game.

Jan 2009, NYR vs Pens at the Garden. Lundqvist's first shut out of the season. Unfortunately is was their last good game before the start of the losing streak that got Renney fired.

I watched Toronto kick the living shit out of Montreal, in their own house, while sitting in the Montreal section with my dad wearing a Leafs jersey. Final Score, 7-2 Toronto.

I've never been to a pro sports game that wasnt an Indians game so... I guess when the tiny 200-student high school my dad taught at (and was also my mom's high school way back when) won the Division IV Ohio men's basketball championship in I think 1994. that was pretty crazy.

Best game I was ever at was when the Wild finally beat the Edmonton Oilers. Doesn't sound that big of a deal, but considering I think it took us 3-4 years before we finally beat them, plus half of our team was sick with a nasty flu virus.
Easily the most energized crowd I've ever been in, let alone for roughly 3 hours.

For the record, our winning streak just got done yesterday at 19 games, though I wasn't there. Was a pretty good game, we came out firing early on, got a 3 goal lead early. They smashed us for two quarters, we were losing by 41 points at one stage. Put on a blinder of a last quarter, were 3 points down, one of our forwards marked seconds before the siren, kicked after the siren but missed the goal and we lost by 2 points. Second best opening streak to a season, bring on the grand final.
For anyone who's seen, it's the team that Eric Bana keeps plugging on your talk shows.

Sav Rocca would have made that kick
He has gotten so fat in the NFL, it's actually funny. Dude must weigh like 280 pounds now.

One of the Essendon players kicked a goal from pretty much the centre of the ground. Fair enough it bounced in the goal square, but that's a 70 metre kick. Wonder if any punting scouts saw that one.

I expect NFL scouts keep an eye on all the AFL players with strong legs at this point with the number of punters they've gotten from that sport.
Apparently a couple NFL teams tried to pry Jonny Wilkinson away from rugby a few years back, but I guess he wasn't greedy enough to take the money and run.

Well mine just got topped. First week of the finals, we came up against Collingwood. I don't really know how to describe Collingwood properly to people who don't follow AFL. They're the team EVERYONE loves to hate. In my eyes they're all ferals. If any of my kids go for Collingwood I not only won't take them to the footy, I probably won't feed them. This guy (http://www.realfooty.com.au/ffximage/2007/06/01/wbFOOTYjoffa_wideweb__470x314,0.jpg) leads their cheer squad. They're toothless scum, 'nuff said.
They've been talking themselves up for weeks, they've beaten mostly teams that haven't even made the finals. We had 2 losses and a so-so game after we had first position wrapped up for the year.
I was sitting 2 seats from the aisle in a bay of StKilda supporters, Collingwood supporters the next bay over. And we gave them a good old fashioned thumping. Only 28 points but we controled the game from quarter time. They brought Sav Rocca's fatarse brother Anthony back into the side for some reason (hasn't played AFL level for 15 weeks), he scored a massive 2 goals before fucking his ankle in the last quarter. The maggots started leaving in droves in the 4th quarter. The game wasn't the best I've ever watched, but the atmosphere was great. Well, great for anyone who doesn't go for Collingwood.
We get the week off and go straight to the prelim final, win that and we're in the grand final. Collingwood have to show up against Adelaide who have won their last to games by 74 and 94 points and have 2 days extra rest over Collingwood. Only problem is I hate Adelaide just as much so I don't know who to go for.
