I've got a Dell and I've installed the latest sound drivers (had to when I reformatted my PC) and my MIDI isn't working D:

I wouldn't need it but I use this program for my guitar playing called Power Tab and it uses MIDi playback so you can play along with songs but it's kinda useless without the MIDI playback (the tabs are still good but you can't play with it).

I've opened up the volume control and the SW Synth isn't muted and the volume is up. I've also selected the proper (there's only one) midi playback device in PowerTab. Still no dice.

Any thoughts? Maybe it's a seperate driver that's supposed to install with windows?

Any help is grealty appreciated. It's not terribly important but it sure makes learning new songs alot easier.

Don't worry. It's the only bump I'll be doing.

I'm assuming that MIDI doesn't work in anything else either?

Nope. I also use Guitar Pro (very similar to Power Tab) and the midi doesn't work there either.

Are there any errors when you try to playback on the midi device or does it just not function?

It just doesn't work. The programs scroll through the notes but no sound is played. My SW Synth volume is up, not muted, and the proper (only) device is selectedi n the MIDI setup for both programs.

Tried disabling hardware sound acceleration? Probably won't do anything but it's worth a shot.
