Real Player Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm)
Can use windows media player to play real player files

Quicktime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm)
Can use wmp to play quicktime files

VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)(suggested by somedude)
a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

well, two other good ones are Media Player Classic which will play almost anything as well as BS Player which is a great low resource video player

Both are codec dependant.

Personally I like Radlight but most AntiSpyware proggies flag it as containing "possile" adware.
