Just interested in what you all think/feel about CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement).
Personally it saddens me because it could possibly hurt alot of the small agriculutural business owners and beef producers within the US....
Then again i don't fully understand the policy itself....

FTAs are all about the breaking down of barriers. Economic, Political, Cultural, Social, Religous, all designed to create a more open competition and force business to become more efficent. It works. Agricultural farmers may not necessarily suffer it depends on if its in the agreement or not, or even if the agreement will allow subsidising to continue.

Don't know where you got most of that from. It's main goal is to break down economic barriers because free trade is supposedly better.

But it would allow more foreign products into the US right?

If the US is part of the agreement, then most likely.
If it didn't, it wouldn't be much of a free-trade agreement.

It just allows them to put more of our factories out of business, and us to put their farmers out of business. It's kinda all crazy-backwards when you think about it.
